Republican Joe Arpaio, a close ally of President Trump and former sheriff known for his provocative approach to combatting illegal immigration, is running for Senate in Arizona. The 85-year-old Arpaio could shake up the late August Republican primary in a critical open-seat race to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. Trump pardoned Arpaio last summer, sparing the former sheriff jail time after he was convicted of ignoring a federal court order in a racial-profiling case.

Sheriff Joe, you're 85...don't be John McCain. Go enjoy the rest of your life.

Jesus Christ. Kelli Ward better win this one.

Joe needs to retire and be done with it.

We need term limits and age limits. The man is too old.

Agree on this. We need term/age limits. Isn't Ward running in the same race? I'd rather her win but I like Joe, just probably not in this position

She's definitely the best candidate but she won't win the primary.

He’s popular in Maricopa County (Phoenix metro area) where he was sheriff forever.

I don’t know what his level of support is in the remainder of the state.

Alabama: We can't possibly have had a worst nominee for the Senate than Roy Moore.
Arizona: Hold my beer.

Lol, surely the Arizona voters that kicked Joe's arse out of the only job he's done in the last 30 years will be lining up around the block to vote him into a new job that he's even more unfit for!

I foresee an entertaining race filled with popcorn, but I doubt he wins the primary.

Arpaio, while old, is an American Patriot.
