How Many Basketball Recruits Can LSU Sign?

I'm seeing we're losing four scholarship players:
Reath
Epps
Combs
Onwuasor
Unless LSU gave a walk-on a scholarship this year or an underclassman leaves, we will only be able to sign four recruits. Correct?

I can’t wait to watch that team play.

Without any attrition...4. Three are already signed (Smart, Reid, Days) and LSU appears to be the leader for Williams (a top 25 player)
Next year could be a VERY special team.

If they take 5, someone will be leaving.

I saw Yuat Alok was projected to us as well. You all know anything about him?

It's either him or Emmitt Williams, not both more than likely.
Unless we lost another post player to attrition, then both would be takes, which is possible. Yuat Alok is starting to come along now, he was a bit of a project coming into this season. He's about what Reath was up to in JUCO at this point now, so imagine basically another Duop Reath in his case.
Now, I think it's more likely we lose a guard to attrition vs. a forward simply from a numbers standpoint. In that case, our 5th player in the class IMO would be a grad transfer/JUCO than freshman probably it happening so late into the cycle.

Chipola College JUCO

6'11, 230 pounds or so
EXTREMELY similar to Reath. Same size, about same production, can shoot 3 but rarely takes it. Average at best rebounder. Not a shot blocker.

4, but I bet someone leaves the program at some point. There’s always attrition.

Billy Embody said 4 or 5 like a month or 2 ago

I'm not sure Galen Alexander is going to be back next year. It's hard to see him getting any playing time with Days and Williams coming in.
There's your fifth scholarship for Alok to take.

You think they play the 3? I mean, I guess I could see it, neither is much of a ball handler though. I see Sampson and Alexander at the 3 next year.

I like Alexander. Hope he sticks around. I think Sims loses significant time next year.

You're forgetting about Rachal. Sampson obviously can play there. Days certainly could with Williams and Reid inside. Simms also could since he wouldn't be asked to be a 4 as much.
Alexander could be the odd man out

I think Rachal will end up being a great all around college player before he graduates. Assuming he doesn't end up in WW's doghouse, he can play numerous positions, and plays with a lot of heart. Next year playing time will be tough to get for a lot of good players.

Rachal I see as a spot 2/3 player. He needs to develop some offensive game in a big way this offseason. Alexander is starting to come along it seems and Rachal's minutes are getting thinner. I think offensive development is key for him this offseason.
I like both Alexander and Rachal for different reasons, both bring a lot of different strengths to the table. In fact I wish I could combine the strengths of both into 1 player
In all honesty I see Simms' minutes all but disappearing next season with the influx of big man talent. He's not a 3 at all, and has always been an undersized 4 basically. He could be 5th (Bigby-Williams, E. Williams, Reid, Days) on the totem pole pretty quick at the big man spots. not even counting Kiir who has huge upside compared to Simms. I think Simms is what he is, a solid role player and he'll fill that next year. When we get into foul trouble at the big spots he can provide some solid but unspectacular minutes.

Both Alexander and Rachal are 4-year program guys, guys who you can eventually lean on junior/senior seasons and should see improvement each year from. They both have talent, it just needs some developing. Heck, Kiir isn't much different, dude has a high ceiling with great athleticism and drive.

I hope Sims learns to become a little more of a wing threat. He won’t get many minutes with the bigs we have next year unless he can play a little 3 at times.

Something he's going to have to do if he wants to play IMO. Develop a better outside shot and learn to handle the ball a little better. Right now, he's just not much of a 3 point threat at all and you really dont want him dribbling the ball more than 2 or 3 times before getting rid of it, he cant create anything for others or his own shot.
Most folks forget Simms came out his senior year LA Gatorade POY, but he was one of those "finished product" types as a senior. Not much to coach up with him because he can't create, can't leap and can't hit 3's with any consistency. He's a "has to work for it" player on the boards and lives on stuff like that and put-backs. It's hard to coach someone up who peaked in high school due to athleticism and height.

2018-2019 Roster:
KBW
Reid
Sampson/Williams
Mays
Waters
Smart
Sampson/Williams
Days
Rachal
Sims
Kiir
Alexander
Edwards
A deep roster. LSU will be able to have multiple variations of lineups. There will be nine or 10 players playing night-in, night-out.
Also, according to 247, Reid has yet to sign his LOI. Any cause for concern?
