Then how do you qualify your original statement?

Fair enough. My assertion which I had with a previous poster was that weather was a factor. Both games had wet, windy conditions which slow the speed of the field. In addition, as the announcers mentioned ND was bringing up safeties to defend the jet sweep. It was defended too well so why risk losing 5-8 yards and killing a drive?
Canada himself stated he will adjust to his team strengths and the other's weaknesses. ND took the jet sweep away. I take Canada at his word.

quote:I am in agreement with you. Damage done so to speak. Not to mention, the idea was for the coordinators to do their thing; CEO is not there for his offensive prowress for sure. Let the specialist do his job.
It is pretty clear at this point that if Canada stays, it won't exactly be a marriage made in heaven with him and O.
And, it's been VERY clear that there have been times when this issue has affected how Canada runs his offense.
Now, I don't really care what one thinks about ANY offensive coordinator but one thing you can say about all successful ones is this. Their offensive ideas are a cohesive whole, not a fricking ala carte ordering system.
Now on both sides of the fence one would think that with job security and pay amounts being a consideration both egos and past issues could be swept aside. We all know it doesn't really work that way. Canada will always be on eggshells and wary of intrusion and CEO will always be looking over his shoulder.

Do you have proof of all this normal conversation you are having?
Posted on 1/4/18 at 2:33 pm to I20goon
You people will not be satisfied with any coach that comes here. Saban can testify to that. Fact.
I remember the March for Miles that was in response to the negativity of the fan base then. Things remain the same.

Yes. It's called expressing ideas on a board.
You are free to disagree with those ideas.
We aren't practicing chemistry here.

I don't find this problematic at all.
So, they had very real disagreements and conflicts. IF they work that out, I don't get the issue.
In football, there can be very passionate "disagreements" (as, one can with a spouse) and things can be worked out and be great afterward.
I have no idea if this is occurring and I am not speculating. However, based upon your premise that Canada stays....I have zero reason to find that "problematic" at all. In fact, I'd say it is a net positive.

there are 3 types of LSU fans right now: football knowledgeable who want what's best for LSU; football knowledgeable who want the best for Ed Orgeron then LSU; those who want what's best for Ed Orgeron
There is actually a 4th kind - those who hate Orgeron no matter what. They behave just like the Hillary people who won't acknowledge that somebody else won the election. LSU would be a LOT better off if this 4th kind would just STFU and quit bitching and undermining any chance for better future.

Canada stays, O goes.
Problem solved.
Problem solved.

quote:Not FACT. I'm satisfied with Canada. I am wholly unsatisfied with the 'media aspect' that potentially ruined his time here. It simply did not have to happen that way. If Orgeron had a slip of the tongue in the TAMU presser, he should have clarified. If it was intentional, Alleva should have done damage control. If it was local media generated only, then either could have clarified. These are high-level false starts, i.e. self inflicted penalties and are not acceptable for the impact they are having, such as ruining relationships for coordinators.

As for Orgeron, I still hope he turns out to be the best reward for the biggest risk ever. I will any coach that comes here. There is no perfect coach, and I don't expect one. I expect growing pains and slip ups. What I don't expect is repeats of mistakes... and we are starting to see those. The true mistake is repetition of error. A 20 yr old DB is acceptable. The head of a programs worth $911,000,000 should not repeat fundamental mistakes.

Some one put up the thread about the culture here at LSU. The fan base is part of that culture. The culture that half this board, which is a small part of the fan base, is to berate, belittle and chastise and all given opportunities teams, coaches, and other fans.
That is the LSU Fan culture. If the team has a successful year, 9-4, you slam every one involved. You bash the administration when they make choices that are in fact good ones. The media locally seems to incite the same responses that we see on this board.
The baseball team went all the way to Omaha. They were ridiculed for losing the CWS, the coach, the players, the administration. It is a continuum of disgruntlement that is mind boggling.
The only team that escaped most of this is the girls gymnastics and not by much.
Carry on with your conversations.

Fair enough.
I hope that if he stays and has another season to implement(and hopefully a better QB), things will begin to click next year.
I just think this whole last month has been weird. I mean, for all practical purposes, we announced we kinda sorta wanted to fire Canada about a month ago.........and yet...........still nothing.

meh.....not sure that was "announced". But, I concede that is the most reasonable speculation.

I remember that this kinda thing happened with Miles and it was one of the things for which I had the most respect for him. He would allow his staff to find another job before replacing them.
Assuming Canada IS going away. This "delay" only causes us (fans) discomfort. Canada knows, O knows, the replacement candidates know. I, like anyone else, WANT to know. But, in the end....my "feelings" shouldn't compel any action.

Let's put it this way. The "hey, he's gonna go look for HC jobs" smelled a LOT like the Saban Kiffen situation last year.
quote:Well yeah. But, when it's is VERY public that ya kinda want him gone............it sort of leaves that as the only viable option.

Put it this way. If you are THINKING about divorcing your wife, you don't tell her. You tell her when you ARE going to divorce her.
Otherwise, might as well stop "thinking" about it cause that shite is NOT going to be water under the bridge.
