Why is this ESPN panel currently discussing politics?

I'm currently watching a panel with Stephen A. Smith that's playing at work and they're discussing the Astro's decision to visit the White House and potential political issues associated with that and the president. Is this a regular type of issue discussed?

I know they've gone full SJW, but I didn't realize they've gone that far away from reporting sports only.

I don't know, I only watch ESPN for live sporting events.

Don't complain about ESPN. USA Today's sports page did a big feature this week complaining about the lack of geographical diversity in college football. Too many teams winning from the south. Not enough representation of the nation as a whole.

Every Championship winning team who is considering going to the white house to be recognised, faces the possibility of being labled trump supporting racist, bigots, sexist.....etc. So it's going to be discussed every time.
