Why is this ESPN panel currently discussing politics?

I'm currently watching a panel with Stephen A. Smith that's playing at work and they're discussing the Astro's decision to visit the White House and potential political issues associated with that and the president. Is this a regular type of issue discussed?
I know they've gone full SJW, but I didn't realize they've gone that far away from reporting sports only.

That's actually pretty tame compared to a lot of stuff they've done in the past

Bc they don't know shite about sports and they were told to discuss this

Don't complain about ESPN. USA Today's sports page did a big feature this week complaining about the lack of geographical diversity in college football. Too many teams winning from the south. Not enough representation of the nation as a whole.

What kind of insane world do we live in where a championship team visiting the whitehouse is this controversial

ESPN and Disney are just tools for regressive propaganda.

Every Championship winning team who is considering going to the white house to be recognised, faces the possibility of being labled trump supporting racist, bigots, sexist.....etc. So it's going to be discussed every time.
