They seem to be a little darker than coots, with a lot more white.

Don’t over think it.
Just shoot them
And see how they taste in a gumbo.

They are in a pond behind my house. There are tons of them but the HOA does not allow me to hunt the pond. I could probably get a few with a wrist rocket when they fly over every morning.
Speaking of gumbo, Manda's sausage could make a killing here. All the store bought sausage is lame.

Shouldn't this be 1943? We didn't invade Guadalcanal until August 1942?

Happy New Year PJ!!!!!!!!
Morning Hangit.
eta: re: The Canada Geese Population.
I think a lot Cities did what Gumpandia did, which was to make a nice,City owned, walking area.Needed some more wildlife so they imported 12 Canada Geese.
Fast-Forward 25 years and their are 200+ Canada Geese.
Maybe more.They're everywhere.
I think the Bag Limit is 5.It was 1 when there was only a migratory chance to kill 1.

I don't think I could throw it high enough to get one when they fly over.
They hit the water about 150 yds. behind my house.

Bonne souris de marée de matin,
Years ago I went fishing on the Frasier river in British Columbia. My future Step-father-in-law thought I was a dumbass when I asked if they ate the geese. There were thousands flying over and it seemed like a legit question to me.
Apparently they look at them like we would look at eating an eagle. Who knew?
