That being said, what is your opinion of the disaster that is/was Kansas’s austerity plan? Would someone with a lick of economic sense explain to me why Brownback’s governance, which seems to be a pure expression of a lot of the conservative principles this board supports, was such an abject failure?
Because trickle-down economics, has been and still is a bunch of nonsense. And if there is a point in which the assumptions of increased revenue through tax cuts based off the laffer curve can hold true, the US and states are on the wrong side of it.
Brownback sold his state on the premise that cutting taxes, especially on the wealthy and business would lead to an ushering in of an era of high growth, and the growth would more than pay for itself in terms of revenue and shared economic prosperity. It did not. Growth lagged its neighbors and the hole it created in the deficit has required emergency actions.

comparison of KS & neighbors' annual state GDP, last decade. KS is the fat red line:

Leftists LOVE trickle down.
They just call it by a different name:
Tax and spend Keynesian economics.
They don't disagree with trickle down they only disagree about who controls the trickle.
Government or private sector.
