6.5 Creedmoor for Deer

Dont know but my colleagues brother somehow put two 6.5 creedmoor rounds in his foot last year while getting in his Utv. Was airlifted and dr told him he may lose his foot. Saved it and has difficulties now but reminder to stay safe regardless of caliber. He forgot there was one in chamber and off safety. Bump fired and took 2 in the foot. I still dont understand how this happened but it did. Be safe fellas. Sorry for getting off topic

I don't have a 6.5 CM, but I do have a 260 Rem single shot handgun w/ a 14" barrel. The 260 CM and 260 Rem are ballistic twins. Both are fine whitetail deer rounds. On game larger than whitetail deer, I'd recommend the 308. Compared to the 308, the CM will recoil less and shoot slightly flatter. Ammo for the CM will be more difficult to find at most brick and mortar stores. I think CM ammo is some of the most accurate factory ammo there is. The CM is a fine round, but it's performance has taken on nearly mythical proportions w/ some on the OB. The "Ballistic Studies" website has a lot of good information about factory ammo and component bullets. Currently there is no page for the 6.5 CM, but info on the 260 Rem should be identical when the same bullets are used.

This. I shot my first buck about 2 weeks ago. Only about 20-25 steps. Clean pass thru, just like he said, about a 2 inch exit hole. Insides were toast. My dad was poking a little fun at my "pea shooter". Till we opened the deer up, and he said wow, those are some good bullets! Ran maybe 30 yards. I shoot hornady 129 grain SST

Sometimes we overthink things. Shot placement fellas. Here’s the sometimes ridiculed .30-30 in the wheel house exit.

It’s a good round and really will shine at longer ranges. If you are taking shots 200 yards and closer, you won’t notice much of a difference between it and the .308. And .308 ammo is going to be cheaper to buy.

I built a 6.5 cm in ar10 flavor. Have killed 9 pigs in 8 shots and one 8pt at 304yrds with it . I love it.

6.5 is superior to .308 imo...ammo is harder to come by and more expensive tho

If one handloads, the 6.5 Swede can better the 6.5 CM and 260 Remington.

And Tikka only has one action length.
