Does this make me trashy?

They are though... But trashy people have trained them to kill anything.

I don't think so. You have enough sense to keep them from roaming free, which puts you light years ahead of the truly trashy people
thats what I say. I feel like the truly trashy people are ones that act like pits are some house pet and they let there kids play with them. That's trashy and stupid. They can serve a purpose and shouldn't be killed out like some people want but you have to know what kind of animal your dealing with
Basically this, and i would add some additional breeds that should require some forms - like german shepherds - because they are large breeds with protective instincts and the capability to seriously injure, sometimes fatally.

yes you are, I bet you keep them on a chain also..

I think it's pretty sucky to keep a dog caged for 355 days a year.
Also, how crappy of a hunter are you that you need another animal to do it for you?

That said, if you have one, you should love it and show it affection so that it becomes well-adjusted. Because now when that little monster gets out, he's going to tear the head off of the first unsuspecting child he happens upon.

quote:goddamn you folks seriously have no clue how hog hunting with dogs work do you? He gets out at least once a month because I go hunting at least once a month and when we go he gets a good 4 or 5 hours I'm the woods at least walking on a leash and isbrunming free once the other dogs have the pit hated. He's a catch dog need to kill. You don't want him out and about in a neighborhood
It's pretty damn cruel. Dogs are social animals and needs to be around people or other dogs for the sake of their mental health. They also need regular exercise. This sort of thing is close to torture and drives an animal insane. You have actually made the animal more dangerous.

Sounds like you have everything under control.
Until he gets out one day and eats your wife and kids while you're at work.

How the frick is he getting through a chainlink fence set on top of concrete with a roof? He can't dig out he can't jump out and unless he can chew through metal he isn't breaking the fence. Plus I don't have wife and kids. And for those of you wondering his cage is set in top of an old oil Derrick. He's got more space to roam than most living rooms.

I feel sorry for the dog. I can't imagine being locked up year round. I grew up with hunting dogs and they were trained well enough to not need to be quarantined from society. So yes, you are trashy.
