Warning: this thread contains spoilers about Star Wars Episode 8 The Last Jedi.

Positives:
Supreme Leader Kylo as he kills Snoke after Snoke tortured Rey for the location of Luke. Snoke orders Kylo to kill Rey but he uses the force to ignite Rey’s saber cutting Snoke down. They fight off the guard together and Rey flees after refusing to join Kylo.
Comedic Hux was surprising.
Rose is a nice addition.

Negatives:
Luke is dead. He force projects his likeness to distract Kylo on Krayt so the 6 or so remaining Resistance members can flea. He disappears into the force like Obi-Wan and Yoda. He literally never leaves Ach To. Basically he wanted to kill Kylo as a child as didn’t. Kylo knew this and never trusted Luke so he turned to the dark side. He burns down the force tree and the Jedi text. Here is where we see Yoda, not Obi-Wan, not Anakin, fricken Yoda.
Rey is a nobody. Her parents are alcoholic junkers who just left her on Jakku. She is the light that is rising to meet the dark but she does nothing spectacular.
Haldo dies.
Leia lives, she is blasted into space but protects herself with the force.
Poe is a rebel within the Resistance hence why he is on the “dark side” of the poster.
Phasma is dead.

They assassinated Luke's character so much in this movie. He defeated 2 of the most powerful force users in the galaxy 2v1 and saved the galaxy, but Pussies out when his nepHew shows signs of the dark side. And then they kill him off like a little bitch.

Huge build up and mystique for Snoke and that’s it? That’s a joke. Was hoping for something bigger with him.

Ep 9 seems pretty empty at the moment.

I can’t believe this is the path they take with Luke...

Yeah, this movie does nothing to move the Skywalker story along

Snoke is a historic nobody, and now dead

Han is dead

Luke is now dead

And the only original Skywalker that survived (because she was female) is dead in real life. Which makes her story a non-starter going forward

Rey is a nobody, but because we are in a SJW phase in history, a female is replacing the Skywalker clan (on which 8 movies have been based)

And Kylo survives, but wants no part of the Skywalker legacy. Ep 9 will have to focus on him accepting his role in the family clan, or they will have killed off the franchise

FWIW, OP is just posting an Australian movie synopsis. He doesn't have "friends overseas".

This trilogy or just Star Wars in general needs more than one villain. Kylo as the main bad guy for Ep 9 just doesn’t cut it. You had the potential to make Snoke this badass villain with an interesting back story and you just kill him off half way through the movie? This is up there with killing off Maul so soon. frick frick frick

Loved Looper so my expectations were probably waaaaaaaay too high. It had some nice stuff in there but yeah it was a disappointment.

After leaving the theater my friends all agreed that this entire movie could have been solved if women were better communicators rather than assuming we could read their minds.

There are few people who are bigger Star Wars fans than I am, and I disliked way more about this movie than I liked. I'm now terrified that Johnson is going to be the one to develop the next trilogy.

From the silly slapstick of Luke throwing his lightsaber off the cliff to milking some alien, they were way too busy trying to squeeze in every comedic moment possible. The whole damn Finn - Rose arc was pointless and nothing but a time filler. Wasting characters like Phasma and Snoke to wasting actors like Del Toro on a silly stuttering character. No one wanting to tell Poe the plan for some reason other than if they did he wouldn't have a role in the movie. Clearly Johnson didn't have a good answer for Snoke's backstory or Rey's parents so he just ignored one and gave the generic answer to the other. The Knights of Ren obviously got shitcanned after the first movie. The whole fricking stupid plot of lets just follow their ships until they run out of fuel, as if it was some Nascar race decide by fuel mileage. Sigh.

Don't get me started on Kylo, the immature emo kid, now being the leader of the First Order. Does anyone think that with Kylo and Hux in charge they'd be intelligent and clever enough to lead the First Order to success? No, you need a mastermind like Palpatine or Snoke...someone wise and experienced. I now know why Mark Hamill initially did not like the direction of the movie to start with. He was 100% right.

So the grandson of the force is dead? They have literally just killed off all interest from their true fan base
