This cat right here, definitely has the potential to be our next Danielle Hunter/Arden Key (2016 version).

His name might not be familiar to many, but I think he is underrated at a 3*. Listed as an ATH, although should end up on Aranda's side. Watch his tape to see for yourselves.

He's a stud. I hope he ends up in this class.

These two players had wildly different careers at LSU.

So, this next recruit will do one of the two? 1) Gradually get better as he progresses through his years but never fully live up to his true potential -or- 2) Be an animal his Freshman and Sophomore seasons and then shut it down and wait to be drafted as a Jr.?

You're looking too far into it. Both played end and both were animals.

I knew I had seen his name around here before but it hasn't been in a couple weeks. Figured I'd put it out there again.

Listen, I like DH and I think he's doing work in the NFL now, but 4.5 sacks during the course of his entire career his isn't an "animal". Was he talented? Absolutely, but he never lived up to what he could have been. That's all i'm saying. I don't think it was his fault.

Anyway, recruiting board probably isn't the place arguing past players. Hope this recruit has it and makes it into this class.

Because of crappy coaching.

Not a more impressive physically looking commit in this class.

Legit 6’4, 215-220, chiseled.

Runs and moves like a guy 6’-6’1

On the basketball floor, absolutely dominates at the 2A level — blocks shots, alley-oops, windmills. It’s a sight.

Good kid. Rosenthal’s best friend since they were in the 4th grade.

You made him sound like he would be a project or has potential; so what are you saying, that he is a star or not?

So is it confirmed that this kid is going to be a rush end? I was looking into him the other day and there’s just not a ton of info as to what he’s going to be at LSU.

Considering he hasn't played a down of college football yet, I think you could only go with him having the potential ...

From his senior highlight tape, definitely looks like a star on the HS level. You be the judge baw

Not confirmed as far as I know, but thats what most of is tapes show

But you also never know with this "experimental" coaching staff. We will have to wait and see.

It wasn’t Hunter’s fault. It was the scheme Chavis used. No DEs had great sack numbers under him.

I didn't argue any of this. I never said it was his fault. Still, the fact remains that he didn't live up to what he could of been. I never stated a reason why... We all know what the issues were.

It makes me wonder what happened at the SPARQ combine, he ran a 5.3 40 and had a 23.8 vert. Zach Sheffer, whom is comparable by size, ran a 4.6 40 and had a 26 vert.

You can tell by his tapes he's faster than a 5.3 maybe he was slightly injured or just a bad run?

I'm thinking injury or something. No way Dare is faster and jumps higher.

The coaches worked him at buck linebacker at our summer that led up to his offer. And they were telling him either buck or defensive end.

What to expect from Dantrieze Scott

Scott arguably was the most dominant prospect during LSU’s lineman camp in Baton Rouge.

The 6-foot-6, 232-pound prospect worked out as a stand-up edge rusher in the same mold as Arden Key. Scott was effective rushing the passer from the edge and could do as a stand-up linebacker or as a true defensive end.

Both roles were mentioned by Orgeron during Scott’s recruitment.

“All they said was that I was going to be coming hard off that edge,” Scott laughed. “They said: ‘We’re going to have you on that edge,’ and I’m cool with that. Coach O told me to keep killing them.”

Scott is expected to spend time at the stand-up BUCK linebacker spot and as a prototypical defensive end. His role is subject to the front used by the LSU defense.

If I remember correctly there was enough information from an interview, Vikings GM, to say Hunter didn't receive the level of coaching he should've gotten or one would expect from a program like LSU.

Chavis' scheme didn't change from the days of Sonic Sam/Mingo (or Overstreet) to Hunter/Rasco to Garrett/Hall. What changed was Haley's effort, in coaching and recruiting. IMHO, Miles was way too nice to him.

thanks, very good info. You're mentioning one thing that slips through the cracks sometimes (not just Scott). Versatility. Aranda values it. And not the "tweener" version... where a player can't quite fill either role. Potentially, he could fill a stand-up role or hand in the dirt role just fine. That's very valuable.
