Honestly you don't think that has been a recurring theme on this board since the hire?

100% certainty, no.

Overwhelming likelihood, sure, and that's warranted.

Nah, I'd never want to infringe on your role.

What is this handling of Canada situation you speak of? He was interested in a lower tier HC job, other than that it's nothing but TRant rumors baw.

Not true, according to LSU insiders. It has been well discussed on Sports Today with Hannagriff and Ott. Apparently, there was/is some sort of rift between Orgeron and Canada. Hopefully, it's been cleared up, but to say it was just "TRant rumors" is totally disingenuous.

Would there even be a Canada situation if coach had done what he said he was going to do and NOT stick his nose in the O?

The fact Coach O and his OC couldn't go into a office, lock the door, and settle whatever issues they had but needed the AD to somehow be a ref I find troubling, no matter the outcome.

So what would you be saying if O somehow won the west this year and made the playoff... would you still be bashing the hire???? Btw there were many better choices out there when we hired him... however he did much better here than he did at ole miss... agreed????? That's what everyone was bringing up about the hire is that he sucked at ole miss and was gonna have the same kind of record here... they had tons on here saying we were on our way back to the Hallman days...

That was quite a while ago and points are counted on more now, due to the changes in most teams' offensive schemes. They didn't win a antional championship that year and I don't consider Etling to be better than those QBs any way. That team lost one game because of the lack of offense and Etling's team lost a couple because of the lack of offensive production. Etling could have had a similar run with only a loss to Bama, if they could have scored more consistently. I think Etling was bad with the exception of A&M, but the schemes did him no favors until A&M.

This is too stupid to even give a real reply to.

And? We should have had Jimbo here after 2015. Admin fricked it up. Should have had Jimbo or Herman after 2016. Admin fricked up again.

Well, in a down SEC where more than half our conference opponents hired new coaches, we got blown out by State and lost to Troy. That's not exactly confidence-inspiring. I guess we'll just have to hope the SEC stays down for us to have a real chance.

all fair points but nobody really knows what happened with Canada. Its all conjecture. So you really cant have a solid objective assessment of the situation unless you are in the building

Lunchbox:
quote:

quote:I heard we won bigly in the trenches against Bama this year. What was the result of that game again?

quote:

We did much better. 2016 I saw our RG and LT get pushed into the backfield. In 2015 we had 182 vs 434 yards of offense. In 2016 we had 125 vs 323. 2017 we had 306 vs 299. Better, but obviously not good enough. If you didn't see the difference then I really can't help you. Of course there are other pieces to the puzzle, but the foundation is building up front. How do you think Bama does it? Are they great at the DB position, QB? They have good skill players, no doubt, but their strength has always been OL and front 7. How does Ohio St do it? Same philosophy.

No response Lunchbox?

I think we will be a good team next year. Only bad thing is we have about 6 other good teams in our schedule.

So you bash the hire and say it was a total mistake , yet you think he was gonna do better than 10-3???? You are making zero sense now....

My response is to read the post I responded to. Read how it was posted as an absolute, then read my post in context.

Yes.

Also yes. He was hired to exceed Miles's recent performances. So I did not expect to lose to troy or get blown out by State.

I could see how you might feel that way.

I agree with most of your posts. I think that he handled the QB situation perfectly though

The expectation is that LSU would be in the playoff hunt, since we were all told that Orgeron was an upgrade. So yes, we hold him to the standard of making the playoffs, even though we don't think it's necessarily going to happen.

What would make you think he would do better than 10-3 based on his track record at ole miss that you brought up so often.. now I understand that most on here would want him to exceed what Miles did however....we can go back to my question before... he didn't exceed Miles so we should fire him and keep trying every year to get a coach that can exceed Miles...

That's what you are basically saying as usual you want it both ways and you hate O and love Miles and think Miles should not have been fired....

[quote]In game decisions. Honestly, I wanted to put this in the positive but some of how he handled the QB situation this year was a real head scratcher. I was VERY over DE but, O still bungled the frick out of that a couple of times. It's kinda of a credit to DE that the dude didn't just fold up shop(especially after the Bama game) [/quote/]

I don’t agree with this...Etling was not great and he killed us in the Bama game but he always seemed like our best option.
I thought we showed better in game adjustments all year with the Ms St game being the exception...we
Made significant halftime adjustments throughout the season...Coach O handled the clock very well all season and it was great to see...
