I know... some are just pissed cause they hated the hire and were hoping that O would be a total failure by going like 5-7. So now that he has s shot at a 10 win season they are grasping god snything they can to bash him.... was the Troy lose terrible??? Yes.. getting raped by MSU was also terrible... that's all those folks keep talking about.... esp the Miles lovers... you know who I am talking about....

You two are perfect for each other. Completely incapable of multi-faceted opinion, largely incapable of communicating in a coherent manner, irrationally angry, etc. Both of you somehow STILL can't grasp the idea that someone can be opposed to us hiring O while ALSO wanting him to succeed. Just mind-boggling.

Dude.... serious???? I was not sold on the hire just like most on here... all I am saying is that there are a certain few in here that flat out want O to fail so they can get their rocks off by saying it was A bad hire.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I see positives, but also areas of concern. The question is, which prevails? 2018 will be a monumental test. If the HC et al. can adjust to the big changes in offensive personnel and navigate an extremely tough schedule I will be very impressed.

And there's the secondary argument here about the whole thing: LSU shouldn't be a school that must hire coaches where the idea of "what prevails" is a question.

LSU is the type of school where someone failing would be a surprise, not where someone succeeding is. This connects to the hiring process and options, O's resume, the sliding metrics of his success, and a host of other issues.

To me, it's the core problem. Even O proponents have to admit some sort of unknown in his future. Being positive is fine, but the idea that a second year head coach at a perennial 9-3/10-2 type school is a "test" and that failure wouldn't be a total shock is kind of crazy.

(There's always the idea of "will this succeed" to any hire, that isn't the point. But there are segments of schools where this is the norm. LSU is not in that segment.)

My question of "what prevails" is multi-factorial as I described. I'm going to guess that our schedule next season will likely be Top 5 in SOS. Also, we lose a lot on offense: starting QB, top 2 RBs, top 2 WRs and our best defensive player. Defense will be stout, but offense is an unknown. It will be a tough task regardless who the HC is. That being said, I have optimism, but less faith knowing O's history. No doubt.

Failure and success is relative. Realistic or not most of us have expectations of LSU winning the SEC and competing in the playoff. Is it realistic? 2011 is our last top 10 finish and 2013 was the last time we won 10 games. That's why we fired Miles. So what is the baseline of a successful season? West champs? SEC Champs? NY6? Playoffs? Natty?

Did we hire the HC to get us to the next level? At the time of hire I would say no. I have no idea what's rolling around in Alleva's head. After this season I wouldn't yes or no. I've seen enough to move me either direction. That's why I called this season a push.

I can't change what's been done so I will revel in the team's success and hopefully the failures are few and insignificant. Life is too short to wallow in misery.

Where do you people come up with this stuff? Why do you think those of us that are interested in the administration of the program and who do not like the hire are miserable? I think it's a crutch to make yourselves feel better about having doubts.

You seem angry....and furthermore....incapable of moving past a bad hire.

Instead of focusing on any positive that might be derived from the end of the season/bowl game/next season.....you seem content to wallow in the misery of the Troy/St/O hiring as do many others.

Move on man.....its history and obviously can't be changed. Continuing this incessant whining about things out of our control seems petulant and petty at this point.

I didn't point fingers at anyone. I was speaking of myself so if you took that as singling you or anyone else out that's on you chief.

It's really been a bad few years to be hiring. At worst, IMHO, O will keep LSU at 10 wins and at the end of his contract Aranda or other better coaches than now and last few seasons will be available.
