After several seasons of ambivalence I am feeling it this year baws. Tree, parties, parades. I am digging it.

Where are you with this?

I had a nice, relaxing weekend and am starting to feel the holidays coming. not quite there, but once I wrap up some stuff at work, I will wind down and be just right.

Huge. Got all the decor done early/on time, making the rounds doing Christmas cheer stuff, happy and high as frick on heroin.

Played a nice round of golf here in North Texas today, nothing gets me in the spirit like a round of golf in shorts in December.

Loving it. Still have kids at home and they make it all feel right.
Good fun with friends at Christmas parties helps too.

I'm trying but it is very challenging this year. My dad has me stressed out on a several times a day basis with his mental health issues so that takes away some from getting into the Christmas spirit. The holidays seem to be a huge trigger for him. The closer to Christmas it gets...the worse he is.

I'm also having surgery this week and will have to take it easy until after Christmas so that also takes away some(likely won't be able to go do some of the Christmas stuff I normally do every year with nephew). Although it does force me to take a much needed break and just take it easy so that is one silver lining.

That's the problem with the holidays it seems. Every year you say you will get more in the spirit and then shite happens and you say "well next year will be different".

And then the same happens next year. Or maybe that is just my experience.

It is what it is. I know some who are dealing with much worse.

I am. I love Christmas. All the decorations are up and all the gifts are bought, wrapped and under the tree. Watching a Christmas movie now.

Typically I dread Christmas but this year I am actually enjoying it. I'm even enjoying the Christmas songs I hear over and over again.

I feel your pain. Mine doesn't seem like he's as bad as your dad, but he def. has issues. And the holidays really mess with him.

I think the holidays are a huge trigger to many with depression issues. Even for those without mental health issues. Too much expectation and high hopes. Too easy to be so easily disappointed and let down and just defeated.

I know this Christmas is not gonna be a good one with him this year. Realistically there is just no way things will get better in two weeks. But hopefully, once he can be in the care of a psychiatrist who can better manage his meds than his PCP, next Christmas will be better.
