A federal appeals court has overturned a ruling that could have freed a Wisconsin inmate featured in the "Making a Murderer" series from prison. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday that police properly obtained Brendan Dassey's confession and he should remain behind bars. The judges were sharply divided, voting 4 to 3 that Dassey's confession wasn't coerced.

Wasn't coerced my arse.

If we’re being completely honest with ourselves, society is probably better off with that kid in jail.

Of course he wasnt coerced. That would make our justice system look like a racket and fundamentally in favor of whoever is accusing.

They cant have that sort of messaging in todays political climate. It's in the interest of the people for their court system to appear just. Correcting a mistake would imply they are sometimes wrong.

So the documentary was true and free of bias? Everyone who saw it knows the complete truth?

If we want to have a separate conversation regarding sterilization and imprisonment of really stupid people that is fine. But, this dude shouldn’t be in prison and the government shouldn’t act the way they did here to solve a crime.

Wonder if Making a Murderer is as unbiased as another documentary on Netflix, Vaccine Nation.... smh
Seriously documentaries can be as fictional as the director pleases.

I haven't seen this TV show or know much about this murder. All I "know" is from what I've read on TD. I gather that the kid is a low wattage bulb, but how retarded is he? It seems like if he has a profound mentally deficiency that he could successfully use some type of diminished capacity defense.

Is the basic premise of his defense that his mental state makes him unusually susceptible to manipulation and that the interrogators used this defect to their advantage?
