UHigh vs De La Salle

Is UHigh the real deal? I just realized tonight that they played, and handily beat, 3 teams this season that are playing for state championships this weekend; Catholic, Zachary, and West Feliciana. That's a pretty good season by any measure. But can they beat De La Salle?

What is De La Salle's strength? I haven't seen much information on them.

I'd be surprised. UHigh's defense has been damn strong all year.

Speed. A lot of speed.
Remind me a lot of the Redemptorist teams in the mid 2000s that could not be stopped.

De La has a QB that is hard to contain. Not much of a passing game. Running attack is deadly. Defensive line has a Tulane commit and a couple of big guys.

It should be a good game then. UHigh is giving up about 6 points a game. They have some speed on offense as well. I’m looking forward to it.

I expect a LOT of personal foul calls on the UHigh defense.

UHigh’s defense has handled everyone they’ve faced. I wouldn’t sell them too short. If their offense plays well I can’t believe they won’t have a shot.

Their strength is not speed. The QB and RB are damn hard to stop with that read option. More like bulldozers. They will run it all day. They might run the same 3 plays a game

I’m not selling them short. They are incredibly talented.
They are also incredibly emotional and have been all year. It’s fine to be emotional towards your team. It’s different across the line of scrimmage

Based on schedule and what they have done it looks like these are truly the two best teams in the state regardless of classification. DLS has big O and D lines. Their quarterback is very difficult to bring down and number one running back is as well. University fast and athletic DLS could slowly pound them for a win like they did to Karr who is a very fast and athletic team. University could also win with a couple of big plays. Frankly I would not be surprised if either team won by less than 10 points, unless less one team turns the ball over too much unexpectedly. DLS is not a team that turns the ball over. DLS has 18 seniors. I think U-High is overall about one year younger.
I am going with 29-26, either team.
Fun fact. Those two met in the finals for the state basketball championship last school year. University had one loss. As in football, the Cavaliers played a brutal outside of district schedule. The Cavaliers beat them pretty handily.

what does DLS have this year that they didn't have last year when they got blown out by PBS?

From Dandy's this morning:
In Division II, No. 1 De La Salle took care of defending state champion No. 4 St. Thomas More 28-14 to reach the championship game. A pair of D1 commits in Kansas St. safety commit Lance Robinson and Tulane DT commit Jamiran James head a defensive unit that has been dynamite this season. Equally impressive No. 2 University Lab beat No. 3 St. Charles to set up the No. 1 vs No. 2 showdown. Former LSU great and Pittsburg Steeler Ryan Clark’s son, Jordan Clark, is a 2019 star in the making for the U-High Cubs. This matchup is the best regardless of classification this entire weekend. Both of these teams are undefeated and beat teams from higher classifications playing for championships this weekend. (12/8, 3:30 PM)
