Get a pump shot gun, you likely won’t need to even shoot an intruder as just the sound of you chambering a shell should be enough to scare most burglars off. If they don’t run from that sound assume they are committed to staying and dying.

Weapons should be felt, not heard nor seen. If someone enters my home, I'm not giving them a chance to get away and possibly return better armed.
