no that is wrong, the match ruins it and saves their lives
put gasoline, first around the mound encircling it, then over it AND DO NOT LIGHT IT
the fumes are what kills them, they go down underground through all the passages and kills everything, unlike poisons that kill maybe 1/3 of the mound and they just move over to a new spot.
try it, it works, and its a "permanent" solution, but it does kill the grass too. i figure i rather have a few dead spots for a week or two then ant piles everywhere
