In 2016, LSU made Tom Herman its top choice, but his top choice was Texas. LSU would likely have had to offer Fisher what he’s going to get at Texas A&M — $75 million for 10 years — but was unwilling to do it.
Herman and Jimbo weren’t the only two choices. I don’t fault Alleva for not hiring either of those two, I fault him for not looking at ANYONE else after those two told us no.

Has LSU sports had a problem making money before Joe?

Alleva is selfish, scandalous, and just financially stupid. Yeah, let's give the coach nobody else in the country wanted a $12 million buyout when he would have coached here for gumbo and a crawfish boil every once in a while

It's a popular narrative. Sheep want to be part of a flock
Unfortunately, a true narrative.
-Les Miles firing in 2015 was botched by F.King and Alleva (the entire 4 weeks leading to A&M postgame)
-Florida hurricane fiasco was botched by Alleva (we somehow became the bad guy and still lost a home game for a game that had nothing to do with Baton Rouge)
-2016 coaching "search" was botched by Alleva
-Instead of taking time to find the next qualified candidate (which he had 3 months to do beforehand), Alleva got his panties in a wad and tried to beat Texas/Herman to a press conference
-Buyout given to Orgeron was financially irresponsible given the circumstances and leverage involved
-Experiment of O and Canada has been mismanaged, leading to a historically embarassing loss to Troy
You may call it a narrative, I call it total mismanagement of the $1 billion entity that is LSU athletics.

I sorta agree. Will wade was a great hire and if coach o works out I think it would be hard to be critical of Alleva.

Bottom line is that Joe is not going anywhere anytime soon.
LSU athletics are making more money than ever.
The graduation rates rating is the highest it has ever been for LSU.
His job is not entirely based on coaching hires. Though some could argue that he has made very good hires with softball, basketball and football recently.

LSU's Graduation Success Rate Reaches All-Time High
quote:
BATON ROUGE – The success of LSU student-athletes in the classroom reached a new milestone Wednesday as the University scored an all-time high of 90 percent in the most recent Graduation Success Rate released by the NCAA.
LSU's 90 percent rating was up two points from last year's mark of 88 and it marked the eighth time in nine years the school's performance improved from the previous year. The 90 percent GSR rating is up a staggering 21 points since vice chancellor and director of athletics Joe Alleva took over at LSU.
"This is a championship-caliber achievement," Alleva said. "When we talk about excellence in all things, this is what we mean.

Every head football coach in college has a buyout. Eaux's buyout is not financially irresponsible. People demand that LSU has good recruiting classes and at the same time don't want the HC to have a buyout. Morons !!!

You haven't been a fan of LSU for very long if you think losing to Troy is "historically embarrassing". Troy is not the horrible team Rantards would try to have you believe.

I call it "your opinion". Unfortunately for you, your opinion is not shared by the higher ups at LSU and AD and chancellor hirings and firings aren't based on the stupidity of the Rant.

Joe Alleva’s days are numbered. If you think otherwise, you clearly aren’t very well connected.

You think recruits care about a coach’s buyout but not his record at his previous HC job?
Posted on 12/1/17 at 10:50 pm to UpToPar
Recruits absolutely care about how committed a program is to their coach and how secure that coachs’ job is. You need a sizable buyout and 3 years guaranteed to be comfortable in recruiting.

99% of the fan base had no idea what his buyout was until there was an article in the advocate after the Mississippi State loss. And you think recruits know about it? That’s asinine. Length of the contract, sure. Buyout, no.

It's not just the comfort level of the head coach. It's the negative recruiting that could be used by schools as lowly as Southern Miss and SMU. Bama and the big boys would wipe up with the information that LSU didn't provide a sizable buyout to Eaux.
Saban: "Hey Louisisana recruit, parents, mentor and High school coaches, I will be the coach for the 4 or 5 years you are in college.
La Recruit: "Coach Eaux will also be the coach at LSU and said he will be my coach the whole time".
Saban: "Ha Ha Ha, Ha Ha Ha - Did ya'll know LSU didn't even give Coach Eaux a buyout. He could be gone tomorrow morning and it wouldn't cost the school a dime. That's how much faith they have in him. My buyout is over $20 million. Who do you think will be around to coach you your entire college career and help you make it to the NFL? Think about it recruit and parents, this is a serious business decision you have to make".

So the only way to recruit is by showing a prospect the school is handcuffed to a coach.
Gotcha
Smart.
Great AD
Clearly there is no other way to negatively recruit against O.

You already know I was with you in those Alleva threads. I threw in the towel when he decided to make the face of Blue Runner our head coach. O might not be a total disaster, but one thing is certain: there were better, available options.

Haters have the strangest outlook on the most basic things. A school showing support for its head coach is not being handcuffed. And do you really think it is remotely possible that that is the ONLY way to recruit? Where do you people come from?
