Did I miss something? Did we lose Canada?

Is he coaching the bowl game? Where did he go?
Posted on 11/29/17 at 11:37 am to theunknownknight
He took the position of head janitor at Rice yesterday. Sucks, but we have to move on.
Posted on 11/29/17 at 11:39 am to theunknownknight
He went to the Toronto Argonauts

Canada is not going anywhere.
This is yet another example of the group-think regurgitation that has become tRant.
O was asked if Canada was interested in head coaching jobs and answered yes. That was it; this is a big giant nothing-burger.

Strangest thing. Apparently the rant overreacted.
This never happens.

There's a little more to it than that. Do you really think Coach O would have said, "And I hope he gets a HC job" if it were Dave Aranda he was being asked about?

Umm, you left out that O then went on to say that he “hopes he gets a head coaching job”
That’s telling IMO

It's not just the rant dude. Mike Detiller said this morning he would be surprised if Canada even coached the bowl game. Mike Detellier is a friend of Os too so it's not like it's some made up BS.
It was yesterday evening he said that not this morning.

This is so fricking dumb
No one is saying conclusively that he's gone but let's not sit here and act like he's clearly not going anywhere. If that were the case, O could easily at any moment quash any kind of rumor about Canada leaving. Based on O's comments and Canada's job history I can't fathom why people like you think it's so outlandish for fans on a message board to discuss possible replacements, etc

It's very unfortunate, but everything lately from the sports show talking heads points to there being a bad rift between Orgeron and Canada. Canada expressed interest in the Rice HC job, for pete's sake, which pays about half what he's making now. It's clear he wants out. I sure wish they could settle their differences and just agree to work together for the next two years, at least.

Yeah I don't see the issue with discussing news that's been reported. What the hell else is there to do?
If Orgeron had said "to my knowledge Canada will be with us going forward" none of us would be talking about this.
Part of good program management is keeping a lid on things like this, unless for whatever reason he thought that it was a good idea to put that out there.

Yes, I do believe that he would say the same about Aranda. He should hope that all his assistants get promotions because that means that they are doing a good job at LSU.
He knows Canada wants to be a HC, why would he not hope that his dream comes true?
as for the Rice pay cut that was mentioned above, CMC wants to be a HC, not an OC. In order to do that, he'll have to go to a smaller school and prove he can do it. No power 5 school is gonna hire him so in order for him to be a HC, he will have to take a pay cut.
yall are grasping at straws.

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder. To me it's obvious that for the good of the football program, it would be better for Canada to be here running the offense long-term. I really thought we were done with the HC interfering in the offense after Coach Miles left. Last year, Orgeron made comments indicating that he was going to hire the best OC out there available and let him do his job. The Troy game proved differently. LSU may have squeaked that game out if the offense wasn't handcuffed in the first half.

All coaches say this and I think he would say it for Aranda too.
If a subordinate of you has higher career aspirations and you help him/her grow that skillset and they move on to better things, it reflects well on you as a manager. Sure you do what you can to keep them, but if their mind is set on growth, who are you to stop them.
That being said, the worst kept secret in town is that O and Canada butted heads early in the season. If there is a personality conflict, then a split may be the agreed best path forward. I would like to see Canada have another year to see what he can do.

You can say a lot things about Les but "insecure" is not one of them; probably the last word I would use to describe Les Miles

it's pathetic.
simple statements have triple meaning, and only certain morons are able to discern it based on listening to local sports talk radio.

There is also another thread one here about O wanting to go back to the, it seems, power I...traditional FB and TB with pro-style QB...hmmm, sounds/looks familiar...maybe Les can be a offensive consultant...

You've been trusting the baby back bitches on this board entirely too much. He's not leaving except for the odd chance he gets a HC gig and then there would still be crying
