Authoritarian Voting Tendencies

I've often wondered how a silver spoon fed Rich New Yorker, raised Democrat, could Captivate the minds of so many Southern conservatives.
Many would say look no further than voters and their tendencies towards authoritarian rule.
I'm not saying any of this is fact but looking for a link between Trump and his voter base... it has to be a factor. Maybe not but if you disagree, state otherwise.
politico authoritarian realization
raw story
psychology today
psychopen
global choice of authoritarian rule

It’s pretty simple really. He spoke positively about America for the first time in eight years. Your fricking Pearl Jam handle is lame as hell, btw.

So you think trashing at least half of Americans and reversing every bit of progress that people voted for over 8 years is speaking positively about America? Please explain further. I'm not trying to be hostile I just want to know.
My handle has nothing to do with Pearl Jam nor Alabama. It is more of a Zen thing about everything coming and going in Cycles

Pearl Jam reference would be “Evenflow”.

I'm aware of the reference. Ebb and flow is actually a reference preceding Pearl Jam, believe it or not

You’ve listened to the song, right?
Finally, we can talk about things that matter.

In what world is running on a platform of "America is shite, I will make it great again" is considered a positive framing of America?
OP, one only needs to spend an hour on this site to see how many posters fit that psychological profile, you are right, and you will be down voted with a frenzy and see many triggered Trumpflakes attack you, the outsider, and rally to Trump, their dear leader, with a fierce aggressiveness in defense of him and to attack you, without any sense of irony of how it plays right into what you just presented them.

And intelligent response from you, as usual

Now there's 2 paragraphs that define the reason to not waste your time responding to this guy

The previous regime's 8 years was a constant attack on white people and spread of divisiveness. Nice "progress".

The thing that's really funny about this is that there are still Democrats and Libertarians and Independence that are also authoritarian but the percentage is much higher of the people that are accepting Trump. The fact that many of these insecure troglodytes believe that he is one of them, makes it both comical and mysterious

How did the administration attack white people? Again, I'm asking for real answers

Or you can actually engage in a thing called intellectual debate

Love Pearl Jam. Takes me back to my college days.
Didn’t know ‘Ebb and flow’ as related to PJ.
Could Ebbandflow be a PJ reference?
Whatever, I could listen to Peal Jam Black Album all day.

The Midwest and rust belt obviously felt that the last 8 years were not “progress” and voted those policies out.
I find your authoritarian bit to be ridiculous. Trump is certainly no more authoritarian than Hillary would have been. I’m not saying he’s a freedom and liberty president, but there’s absolutely zero chance he’s more authoritarian than Clinton.

Thanks for the links. It's a real concern. The younger one is the less likely one is to say that living in a democracy is essential ( LINK). These attitude changes have been seen in other countries where "democratic deconsolidation" has occurred with degradation of democratic processes, failures in rule of law, free speech & press, rights of dissidents, etc. Trump is a symptom of devaluation of traditional democratic norms and a preference of some for authoritarians.

Me too. So many of my friends hate Eddie vedder's voice but he is a great Lyricist and the entire band is fantastic

To a certain extent I agree. I actually felt like Hillary Clinton is very much like George W bush
