re: Neighbors dog attacked my dog

Update: I appreciate all the help from everyone who called me and my dogs a pussy. I took my wife to urgent care where they gave her a tetanus shot, antibiotics, and bandaged her hand and wrist area. She’ll be fine. Neighbor went to urgent care and got the same. We took our dog to an animal hospital and she had several lacerations on her throat, head, and the worst part was around one ear. She got antibiotics and some wipes to sterilize the area. She’ll be ok as well.
The bad news: the neighbor claimed MY dog bit his hand during the “scuffle” when animal control showed up. It’s impossible to prove either way because all people were pulling on both dogs to separate them. All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines and are now on home quarantine for 10 days, which is great because I was supposed to be going back to Baton Rouge to spend thanksgiving with my family. I have to call the city office tomorrow and get permission to travel or my holiday plans are fricked.
The bullshite continues.

Stop being a bitch about everything. Dogs fight. The neighbor is covering expenses. That should be the end of it.

In all honesty this is pretty likely. His dog was the aggressor, your dog was terrified. It's called fear biting. She was just snapping at everything near her face bc she was hurt and scared.

I’m not disagreeing with that, just seems shitty that I have to possibly cancel my holiday plans because his dog attacked mine.

People keep mentioning leash laws, do leash laws apply with regards to one's own back yard, especially if the yard is fenced?? I let my dog (male german shepherd) out in our yard (fenced) off-leash all the time. I guess the shared yard could cloud the situation to some degree with regard to the leash law.
Given the facts of the incident as I read them, I would move on.
PS, as someone else posted, wheel-barrowing the back legs is the go to when you have to get involved in a dog on dog or dog on human situation.

Or what?
Well if they come to do a wellness check and my dogs aren’t at home, they can hit me with a fine and possibly take my dogs away.
Seems like a pretty shitty outcome.

Next time you break up the dogs grab them by the back legs and pull them apart... makes them easier to control once you get them separated... because it's going to happen again. Just FYI once animal control is notified that a dog bit someone they come take the dog. I wouldn't answer the door and I would go out of town as planned. What are they going to do?
Edit I didn't read pages 2-3, so I guess the back leg thing has been discussed but it works.

Likely theses dogs have been in a literal pissing match over territory. The territory of the backyard.
The aggressor dog did what any dog would do. he defended his territory from an outside threat.

Hahaha. You're not at the discretion of animal control. Lie.

Only option to make this right is for you to bang his girlfriend

I still think he should kill their dog, and make his dogs a collar out of its teeth.

Surprised no one has asked the breeds of the dogs.
