I think of it as an overall, consistent winner.

Why do they need a special name or designation?

Because labels help describe things. Humans like to label / categorize things.

Not sure how commentators describing schools makes the schools themselves cocky and entitled?

Actually the schools that are blue bloods keep winning, even though they have a giant arrow on their back. Like when they play non blue bloods schools in November, getting their best shots from the wannabe teams because the wannabe teams only have 1 shot to experience greatness since they flake out when it matters like little birches

Me either. It's a term to categorize certain schools.

OP is a weird dude.

Blueblood really doesn't mean consistent winner.

At least not technically.

It's original kings, noble by birth, trace the lineage.

Technically, Princeton and Yale are bluebloods in CFB.

FSU has been a consistent winner but they aren't considered a blue blood.

It's programs that were winning a lot and right away from the beginning...and yes, they had to be consistent and keep winning and be dominant in their conference..but Michigan didn't win a Natty for 50 years and they are the ultimate blue blood.

Blueblood is old money. FSU and Miami are new money.

Think Vanderbilts and Rockefellers vs. Zuckerbergs and Bill Gates.

I agree.

And the label makes it so much fun to beat them.

I have nothing against historic programs being described as blue bloods. Their trash fans that feel some sort of superiority by rooting for them is a little absurd though. The blue blood programs truly have the worst fanbases because you have a lot of sad, angry people that root for these teams to cling onto to something that makes them feel better than others.

You're projecting.

Damn you have issues, bruh

My rooting for Michigan (for example) doesn't give me some sense of superiority. Wtf

I'm projecting? You seem to be the one triggered by my comment. I'm just calling it like I see it. The fact that you're getting so worked up kind of seems like maybe I pegged you.

Yes, by making definitive, embittered statements about fanbases of blueblood programs.

Ohhh, that was a smooth flip attempt, though 8/10 on that one. Well executed. Tried a little too hard with the 3rd sentence but overall, that was solid.

Talk about a chip on your shoulder. Sorry I struck a nerve and sorry for the "flip attempt" lol. My comments aren't anything groundbreaking about the fanbases of big programs, this is commonly accepted stuff.
