Grand Isle lodging for Thanksgiving weekend

I plan on taking the family (wife, 2 boys under 7, and my dog) to Grand Isle on Thanksgiving weekend (Fri - Sun). Do you guys have any recommendations on lodging? I want it to be under $150/nt. I have been looking on several sites but I realize that people that have been there have much more insight on some local lodging that you won't find on many of these sites.
I have never been to Grand Isle and I want to do some kayak fishing as well as bring the family fishing on land. I have done some research on Caminada Pass but are there any other spots for some specs or reds? Any advice is seriously appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try bridgeside. You will probably have to drive off the island for yak use.

Stay at the Sand Dollar and fish their pier at night.

there are some good spots along LA1 to fish off of the side of the road. fish the bridges from fourchon to the caminada bridge, especially when the water is moving through. any culverts that you see under drives just off of LA1 as well. been hearing of tons of white trout off of the new pier in leeville at the launch at night.
i've seen tons of people fishing by the cell tower, closer to fourchon on the south side of LA1. also, there is a telephone pole just a bit down, in the water, on the right side as well, that i've seen people fish from both land and in yaks.
good luck.

El Jefe is right, the side of the road by the bridges can be on fire if the tide is moving. One thing I do want to bring up about that is the kids and dog. For some reason, people feel the need to drive way to fast on Hwy. 1. You are fishing on side of a highway with a speed limit of 55, so you really have to watch the boys crossing the highway. I'd take a look at Elmer's Island road between Hwy. 1 and the dog leg right turn to the beach. Lot's of places to fish, no traffic( or moving very slowly), and also places to launch the yak. At night, the Bridgeside pier can be a lot of fun, but buy some live shrimp in the afternoon and keep them aerated, you'll catch a lot more free lining and the boys can watch the fish hit the shrimp. It's all about getting those boys on some fish, at that age, size and type won't matter. Good Luck.
