Universal basic income.

When those electric, self-driven trucks start rolling, we are all going to be eating government cheese.

quote:

Today, growing concerns regarding poverty, artificial intelligence and workforce automation have spurred some to consider universal basic income as a potential solution.

I would say freedom, but the freedom the founders of our country had in mind is different from the freedom people have in mind today.

Today's freedom seems to be more of an unchecked, let me do whatever I want type of thing, thus turning to a relativistic mindset and losing sight of other's because people are too wrapped up in themselves.

Okay, my more developed list:

Democracy
Rule of Law
Civil Rights
Freedom of speech
Freedom of the press
Freedom of religion
Freedom of expression
Right to bear arms
Liberty
Justice
Free and fair elections
Right to privacy
Right to an education
Human Rights
Capitalism
Right to the pursuit of happiness

I’d hope every American could appreciate the value of these concepts, no?

Do you even Enlightenment bro?

Or Declaration of Independence?

Any answer to this question should start with Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. (Keyword: pursuit)

Taking care of #1 (self) and to hell with others has all but totally supplanted the older sense of shared community responsibility that was once the backbone of American values.
