It’s a shame because one would think with the local population, the huge student population, and resources that this school’s football program would just take off-

Everyone that goes there that is from Florida is either a UF, FSU or Miami fan. It's a weird dynamic that affects all the newer schools that started playing football.

UCF is a better job than Nebraska. If Frost goes anywhere it would be Florida.

Nebraska is not what it used to be. That ended with Tom Osbourne. Lincoln is a shitty, boring, and cold place to live for a guy who’s spent the last 2 years in Orlando.

As are the delusional Husker fans thinking Frost will invoke the spirit of Bob Devaney and bring their program back from the brink of permanent mediocrity.

Oh well. They'll get to spend $3 million up front while paying their two previous HC failures another $9 million just to get Frost on campus. Jokes on them.

UCF is a wonderful school and is usually in the top 2 - 4 for student population recently. Embedded in the East Orlando community that is well supported, but no where near the tradition of a UF or Nebraska.

I remember my recruited and pulled my cousin Sedric Collins and Reggie Cooper from Slidell HS and it was a big thing. I believe Frost would like to see his alma mater get to a similar level and he is there best chance since Osbourne imo.

Yeah, now that Frost is apparently choosing Nebraska over Florida he’s suddenly a shitty coach who won’t be able to win in the Big Ten West

On the contrary, I think Frost is an excellent HC who still won't be able to win the Big Ten West because he'll be stuck at a program on a permanent decline.

And he'll make less money while he's there, because of the poor choices you've made starting with firing Solich, another excellent HC who couldn't overcome your failing demographics.

Ah well, at least his parents will be able to spend time with their grandchild while he's 500 miles away trying to convince some kid that he'd be happier in Lincoln than in Austin, Ann Arbor, or somewhere in Florida.

Solich couldn’t recruit. Simple as that. The fact that he’s been at Ohio since then, with no other substantial offers, shows how “excellent” he is.

As far as recruiting goes, Frost won’t have a problem. He’s a hot name and he'll land plenty of kids. Heck, Bill Callahan had Top 5 classes in Lincoln just because of his NFL experience. It’s not nearly as hard as you’re making it out to be.

Why? Who would want to leave sunny, warm, Central Florida, for the barren, frozen, wasteland of Lincoln, Nebraska, for a has-been program that still has interference from Tom Osborne?

Maybe because he's from there, it's where he won a national championship, and his family still lives there? Tom Osborne is his hero. Is it really that difficult to figure out?

I spent two weeks in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have no idea why anyone would want to live there. It's like a shitty island with no girls in bikinis, no blue water and instead you are surrounded by farms.

I've been up there too, and I agree, it's pretty shitty. That being said, it's still where he was born and raised and played.

Not everyone thinks that places that aren't on the coast are shite. Particularly, if you're from a state that's not on the coast

Checked your recruiting claims on Rivals, and if you go by average star rating Solich's last two classes were pretty much in line with Nebraska's recent historical norms - mid teens to upper 20s. Which is exactly what Callahan's single "top 5 class" in 2005 was - the only reason it was ranked highly is because he had 32 signees.

Sure, Frost is a 'hot name', and initially he'll pull in a few FL/GA kids who are already familiar with him from UCF. But in the end, he'll still be at Nebraska, a school that hasn't finished ranked in the top 10 since the class of '18 got out of diapers, and hasn't won a conference championship since before they were born.

This ain't 1995, when the Huskers were at the top of the college football universe and it was still possible to get high-functioning illiterates in school as 'partial qualifiers', and then cover up their criminal activities to 'keep them on track'.

Ask Scott Frost about that. I'm sure he understands.

I've always had a good time in Lincoln. The railyard is pretty cool, especially during big events.

Other than the beach, gainseville sucks arse compared to lincoln.

Hopefully he can bring Nebraska back. Would love to see them start contending in the big 10.
