From GreatHornyToads:

quote:

Patterson and Tennessee

I’ve have it on solid authority from within the AD that Patterson has met with Tennessee representatives 3 times in the last month. He’s kept this secret from TCU.

It sounds like the two parties have gotten to the point that Patterson has given his requirements to become head coach for the Vols. He wanted the job in 2009 and was ready to leave but felt they had already agreed to hire someone else.

This is going to be a huge low for our program.

After talking some more with my source, Patterson will take his entire staff.

This will decimate our program if this happens.

Your program is already decimated, you haven’t been relevant in an extremely long time...how is hiring a perennial top 15-20 team’s coach a bad hire?

Those are the words of a TCU fan. I would've thought that TCU Board and GreatHornyToads might have given it away. Guess not

Maybe if you had put the shite in quotes, like this..

Patterson would be a huge step up for Tennessee. IMO would be the best hire in the conference since Saban and Meyer.

That article means absolutely nothing. As a bama fan, I would think you'd remember all the things Saban said before he was hired.

Edit: you probably jumped on the bandwagon after he started winning

I'm sorry but I'll believe that Gary Patterson would ever leave TCU when I see it.

This.

He is 57, makes $5.1 million/year, has his program at the top of the conference year in and year out and is a fringe playoff contender every year.

Why would he leave that for a complete rebuilding job?

Patterson has wanted a higher profile job than Tcu for years. Patterson also advocated for the LSU job last year and in 15 but Lsu has the dumbest AD of all time. So

Calm down, Francis, and dry your Vo11untears.

I merely posted a Gary Patterson quote. I made no statement about it.

I am an Alabama alum (attended UA when Bryant was HC).

I hope y'all hire a very good coach.

I can see that. And LSU has been a contending team for quite some time. It is not that much of a rebuild. UT is not quite in the same spot and is more difficult from a recruiting standpoint. I also wonder if UT will give him a raise --- are they willing to pay Patterson $5.5 to $6.0 mil? If they are, will TCU match?

I thunk it up. I still have a few brain cells left that work well on occasion.

As an LSU fan, I would love this. We really need for Tennessee to be good again. It’s better for the overall health and balance of the conference as well.

getting nervous about a lot of these rumors surrounding the openings though.

O is an inferior coach to 99% of the names being rumored for these gigs.
