To be regularly in the conference title game in this conference a playmaker is required.

To get through the playoffs into the CFB championship, ever, one is required.

I used to not believe that. I do now. I would just add the caveat that it does not necessarily mean they have to be able to be a "running QB". You don't have to run a RPO. However, it does necessarily require some ability to run, 100% the ability to be able to scramble and have some elusiveness. To me, the difference is both important and distinct.

In other words, my caveat requires the ability to make 1st downs on the ground by the QB but not require the offense to depend on him as a rusher. I think that qualifies as a "playmaker".

ETA:
and to answer you OP... my "tDecline is real!" game was Fat Bert's first SEC win with no points scored in 2014... to ensure a 5th place SECW finish. I had no doubts then.
