Up until Les got fired he could thank Frank Wilson and Ed Orgeron for that, not the other way around.
So Orgeron gets credit before and after Miles is fired. Yeah, you seem like a rational individual.

I'm sorry you don't like it, but promoting from within is not an option.
Good point. You are probably right.
But at some point if LSU needs a DC and another school is looking at Corey, Eaux may make the move in that direction. Corey is learning from Aranda and is a hell of a recruiter.

O has done a better job than I thought he was capable of after our early losses. I actually think he’s a good bit smarter than he’s given credit for and certainly smarter than it sounds. The things that really worried/worry me about him are things he can’t change. I am concerned that he hasn’t built up enough equity as a head coach to consistently hire the best coordinators and recruit like we need to. It’s a lot different recruiting for Les Miles, Pet Carrol, Jimmy Johnson, and even Lane Kiffin than it is for yourself. Do the kids, their coaches, and their parents trust Ed enough to send their NFL hopefuls to play under him for 4 years. He simply doesn’t have the skins on the wall.
Similarly, I think Ed is probably pretty well respected in the coaching world as a DL coach and recruiter. Does he have the reputation to convince a hot commodity to choose us over Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Michigan and other schools who are not going to get outbid and whose coaches have had much more success to point to as a head coach.

Some LSU message board fans have a disease known as Catastrophe Syndrome. Unfortunately, the idiots that are eaten up with it tend to be the most vocal. They have a great want to convince others to be miserable like them.

He will have to let him go in that situation. This is where Orgeron makes his impact. He's selling himself on having an elite staff every year and that includes having to replace elite coaches once they move on.

Oh...it's an option. A shitty one, but it's an option.
Who REALLY thought promoting from within was an actual option about 12 months ago...?

You guys are dipshits. You don't know WHAT was said. Period. End of discussion.

Sure he can do it, but it's going to erase most of the goodwill he's earned recently. That's not what we were promised when he sold himself as the coach.

Turns out he was keeping it from falling apart for himself. Some if not most of the recruits would have scattered if he was not named head coach.
Jacob Phillips, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Tyler Taylor definitely wouldn't have been at LSU among others.
This cannot be proven or disproven. Basically you're talking out of your arse.
All we know is most of these guys were already committed when Miles was still here. That is unable to be disputed. You have no idea what they were thinking during the process.

This has NOTHING to do with why many here felt that Orgeron was an abysmal hire and why goal post moving to accommodate the new normal around here is a mistake for the long term health of the program as a whole.

Eaux was the recruiting coordinator between Frank Wilson leaving LSU and him getting the interim HC job. He may not deserve all the credit prior to Miles being fired.
After Miles is fired Eaux definitely deserves all the credit. Who else could possibly get credit? The new recruiting coordinator that Eaux fired the day after signing day?

If you're going to give credit to one recruiting coordinator you have to give credit to both.
That's how being rational works.

Nah...not from the folks who can't keep a thought in thir head for more than a weekend. Those folks waver back and forth wildly depending upon the outcome, or perceived outcome of one game or another...either good or bad.
Those who have had reservations about the hire have been thinking longer term from last year until now. No good will was built with them, because it could not be built up that fast given the issue at play here is our system of coordinators coaching and Orgeron, well...NOT coaching and being given credit for staying out of the way. That's a system that can only legitimately be judged after success equal to or greater than the former staff and doing it again after he's had to replace the current coordinators. Standing up and declaring it a job well done and a great hire before this is REALLY misunderstanding what we're dealing with here.
But folks who are on board with Orgeron will buy whatever he's selling and there's no question about it.

Ehhh
I've had reservations from day 1, but I'd say he's earned some respect since the Troy game. Not enough to keep me content, but enough to keep me from melting. He needs to win 3 of the last 4, at minimum to keep it that way though.

I agree 100%. He will be heavily judged on how he handles turnover, which I've already pointed out.

Again, 100%.

And again.
We're definitely on the same page.

I have read that Canada had turned down four other offers to leave Pittsburgh. He then left Pittsburgh for the LSU offer. With what LSU pays coordinators and why they will be hired (the previous coordinator becoming a head coach) I think they will jump at the opportunity.

Last class within a couple days and on signing day, Eaux signed at least four guys - Phillips, Chaisson, Taylor, Harris - three have started and the other - Harris has played quite a bit and may be the best player of the whole class when all said and done. Three of the four were from out-of-state. Not bad for a guy on the job for less than three months.

Are the other schools going to give them the autonomy to run it as they see fit? It's not like very many schools will outbid LSU for coordinators.

You don't know that. Nobody knows that. I agree that if it happened right now what you say is true. But, if LSU is very successful in the next few years and taking a chance on Corey as DC for a season won't set the back a few years it would be a different situation.
Not stating a definite like you, but it is certainly a possibility.

It's been posted enough on the Rant that it has to be true. Even if it is fake news generated by the biggest hack ever - Chris Landry.
Chris is more miserable than the haters on the board right now.
