There was an article in the Business Report a few months ago about it and it’s owners...Hartley/Vey. Basically they have limited motivation to improve the property given their ages and the cost vs. the return, nor do they have the desire to sell because it’s paid off and then rent $$ is good.

I've heard we will move our store from there. Nothing for sure though

.Hartley/Vey
good guys that created some really nice and classy residential developments in BR. most people don't know, but they made highland road "hot". it would be a shame to their "legacy" if this property became some sort of "typical BR eyesore" while they are in the final stages of their carriers.

From the business report article
I think the plan may be to run it down to the point the long term leasors will want out
...then Hartley/Vey will knock it all down and redevelop
quote:
Scott Bankston, who is Hartley’s associate and manages the property, concedes the property has been problematic, and says the highest and best use for the 11-acre site is to demolish and redevelop it. But he says the partners cannot do that because of long-term lease agreements in place.
