This is a real thing?

I got no problem with it. More kids running around, the more moms in the area, the better chances of a hot one or two. Moms from trashy neighborhoods tend to dress up in trashy costumes. Nothing wrong with that!

This is basic human nature.
It's not racism or elitism. If I work hard all year to upkeep my neighborhood and build relationships with my neighbors, I'm not going to be ecstatic when outsiders who did nothing to improve my neighborhood come in once a year to reap the benefits.
Actually, "basic" human nature is to take care of people. What you're doing is "taught" behavior (not taking care of those less fortunate.) So, these outsiders ruin the upkeep of your neighborhood and your relationships with your neighbors? And whoa, those outsiders reaping those huge 20 cents worth of candy benefits. I hope it doesn't break your elite hood.

This is incorrect. Humans are inherently tribal in nature.

They often leave trash around, park/drive in the grass, hide in bushes, are loud/not kid friendly, clog up the roads because they drive instead of walk etc. They don't have pride in the neighborhood because they don't live there, not because they're bad people.
Take a step back from your knee jerk emotional argument and you can see why residents don't like bussing people into neighborhoods.

I'm sure your neighborhood is trashed. This isn't a tailgating event. Hide in bushes? Who cares? Wait, children are loud on Halloween? No way!
ETA: How old are you? You sound like a grumpy arse 90 year old man.

Our neighborhood welcomes children of all races, religion and social classes. Sounds like you live in a shitty neighborhood.

How do you know who isn’t a neighborhood kid?
Pretty simple when it's a rural neighborhood with about 50 houses and everyone knows each other.

My town is 75% black and, when we had trick or treaters, they were always polite. It was fun passing out candy, and I'm always sad that no one comes to our street any more (dead end, older people so we'd usually be the only ones passing out candy).

So you get enough kids that come to your rural neighborhood that don’t live there to warrant buying cheap candy for them?
Seems more trouble than it’s worth.

I live in a fairly large neighborhood about 350 homes none built by DSLD or DR Horton fortunately lots of kids plenty come to my neighborhood that don't live here. I like it I know that its a safe place to trick or treat and many kids don't have that. My kids are older and don't trick or treat anymore but we still participate
Posted on 10/30/17 at 9:41 am to GeorgeTheGreek
there was a time when neighborhoods took pride in being the place where everyone trick or treated.

Fix your own neighborhood instead of teaching your kids to go grift off of people who take care of theirs.
It's not about anything other than teaching kids the value of hard work IMO

It's not that their neighborhood is bad. A lot of the outsiders live in apartments. Apartment trick or treating sucks for children.

Take them to a church or mall for trunk or treat. Hell I've done that just to keep my kids from being exposed to all the freakin' pedophiles surrounding my former neighborhood. It's not somebody else's duty to provide something "nice" for my kids.

By knowing the kids in your neighborhood....they don't all look alike.

You know every single kid’s face in your neighborhood? Seems kinda pedo
