It’s amazing that it’s almost like a culture at LSU to leave early.

Yeah it’s pretty frustrating. I don’t get why bama doesn’t seem to have the same issue. They lose one or two per year MAYBE

I think everyone is tired of one more year for any player. Let’s try developing the players behind them

Back in the day, and not really that long ago, players ALL stayed until their eligibility ran out, and the NFL respected that. Yes, some had injuries in that last year but it was a few, not most. So to say they are passing up hypothetical millions is misleading. To say millions might be being deferred for one year is far more accurate. Plus maybe enhanced. What if in one more season either Guice or Key won the Heisman? How many more millions would that one thing add?

I thought this was always about getting that free education and diploma from the flagship university of LA.

It’s not just injuries though. No one wants to be James Laurinaitis or Taylor Mays. If you’re projected to go reasonably high, often the only direction to go is down, so why stick around and risk that?

If sucks for us, but I understand a guy wanting to leave, even if he’s not a 1st round projection. Maybe KT2 would benefit from another year, but a guy like Donte probably won’t look much different next year than he does this year. He is what he is and if that makes him a 3rd rounder right now and he wants to grab that, I can’t be mad.

.

Very little. The NFL doesn’t care if a player won the Heisman. They won’t get a bonus for winning it. The NFL pretty much has set contracts for rookies. They make make a little more in endorsements but that would be it.

"Free Education" is the thin veil that vaguely conceals the true identity of modern day College football!

TRUTH:
College Football is a war fought over the billions of dollars that Americans will spend to be entertained. Compound this with a lust for winning as well as a false sense of self importance derived by associating themselves with the success of their favorite team and you have the Nuclear power plant of money making machines!

Bottom line: It's a buisness that exploits 17-21 year old kids, most of which have no real desire to obtain an academic degree.

No they can't.
The op said "EXCLUDING KEY AND GUICE"
for some it's not millions.

IMO Godchaux screwed up. Yes he made the Dolphins but what he lost won't be made up until his 4th year on next his contract and likely will never be made up.

Key needs to pick it up if he expects to get a 1st or 2nd round evaluation.

Lol,,,,the elite recruits are recruited on the basis of playing early and making it to the pros in 3 to 4 years.....if they are in that position and get solid draft grades....go and make that money....feed your family.

What do you think he lost?

He's 1 year closer to that next contract. He wouldn't be had he stayed

them's just words.

Guice is gone, as he should be. RBs have a limited shelf life.

Wouldn’t it be incredible to get the underclassmen, excluding Guice and Key, to hang around

It would be incredible for the team...not for the guys who have maxed their ceiling in the draft. A good rule of thumb is stay for 4th round or lower. Third round is a gamble. First or second...thanks for being a Tiger and represent us well in the NFL!

I think sometimes agents 'over promise" what they can get by leaving.
Saban has a little more credibility if he tells his players that another year in school would help them.

...some, like Guice can not wait, nor would I expect them to,but anyone not going in the first 3 - 4 rounds might consider
