Why do they need high priced lawyers? Why not just answer their questions and show them any documents they request? That is if everything is on the up and up

Because the government is most certainly not your friend if you're so much as a person of interest in any kind of investigation. They're always looking to nail someone on any kind of souped up charges they can pin on you, especially in high profile investigations where the opportunity to nail a member of the White House or even the president's scalp on your wall could present itself.

The biggest mistake you can make with a federal or state prosecutor is to deal with them in good faith and trust they're not trying to screw you over as any encounter with them is full of legal liabilities like perjury, false statements or failure to disclose something.

Never speak to them without a lawyer present.

How does any of that happen if you're completely honest and disclose everything?

it's like you don't think there is a witch hunt going on. In the end more Dems will be indicted than republicans. Mueller is trying to avoid that....but he can't. Just wait.

Can you honestly say that you would have no problem with being interviewed for hours and hours without a lawyer present by some of the toughest and most hard nosed FBI agents and federal prosecutors there is that's trained to make you nervous and say something self incriminating even if it's false or only half true?

Carter Page did exactly just that as he was interviewed by the FBI for 6 hours without a lawyer present and that's why he had to decline testifying under oath for the senate intel committee as the lawyer he recently hired advised that it had way too much liability as a perjury trap after the aforementioned stupid decision interviewing without a lawyer present.

This is exactly why Miranda, the 4th and 5th amendments and the right to counsel exist.

Talking to feds or even local prosecutors without a lawyer in any formal setting is one of the most retarded decisions you could make.

Paul Manafort was allegedly cooperating and giving them whatever they asked for. He got a pre dawn visit.

When you are under investigation or have been arrested for any reason, you NEVER talk without your attorney present. The people questioning you do not have your best interests at heart, they are not your friends nor trying to help you.

Honestly I think there should be a law that the Govt has to cover costs if a person they are investigating is found innocent. This would stop useless witch hunts. I also think this should apply to lawsuits in order to end frivolous suits.

Only if you held the govt employee liable. The cost is peanuts in the grand scheme of our taxpayer burden and we wouldn’t know the difference.

Shall we list the amounts of completed donations for say the last 5 years?

I bet all of the recipients would be happy to know mccgrath says they are worthless. How much have you given away the last 5 years? Settlements and child support don't count.

In a case like this, a court would provide you with an attorney if need be. I highly doubt any of the witnesses have that "need" unless they have committed crimes like Flynn, Manafort, Trump, etc.

You really don't know how it works. Do you know the requirements to have a court appointed attorney? You should probably do a modicum of research before posting out of your arse.

Let's see.
Mueller hires a team of some of the best, most aggressive prosecutors on the planet.
His team has no cost restrictions.
There are no time limitations.

You would suggest a court-appointed attorney to counter that team?
Really?

Are you that stupid?
