how would you put a staff together? all coaches and no recruiters or all recruiters and no coaches? either sounds like a disaster. the fact is, recruiting is a HUGE part of college football and in Louisiana you'd better have some recruiters. we just don't produce enough talent every year to stock this team; we have to go all out and get what we can and also go OOS. fact of life. the state of tejas has 22 million more people than we do. think about that. add to that nick frickin' saban raids us every year and cherry picks the good players. we do the same in tejas out of necessity.

We've had some awful WR coaches lately.

McCarthy
Ball
Joseph
Craig

Can Adam Henry come back?

Also how about Dupree, go check history he was a lot better after O took over team last year.

Ummmm. O fired the WR coach from last year, so that means nothing.

Quinn left two years ago before LSU hires the WR coach they fired last season to bring in the new guy. Joseph was coaching RBs at La Tech last year.

You can hire guys that are balanced. It’s not that hard. You don’t have to recruit as well if you can develop players well. It means nothing to recruit top tier talent.l if you can’t coach them up.

Again, O’s literally only redeeming quality as a head coach was supposed to be his recruiting ability and his lack of skills outside of the DL was supposed to be accounted for with better assistant coaches.

This is why LSU is where it is and Othrr programs are ahead of them.

Marshall = WANT

Canada seems to take what the defense gives (see running all tf over OM last nite) and Etling isn't really the type to throw guys open (tho that Gage td pass vs aub was a Great throw considering he was on his back foot) Chark has made some plays in 1v1 jump situations but it would be nice to get dillon and gage going over the middle. Drake and Sullivan could be really good if Brennan develops.

I Am also in waiting to see who we bring in at wide receiver before I judge his recruiting skills. I myself will judge after a full recruiting season . Hey Craig was horrible. He was hired because of his recruiting skills by last coach. I loved the Miles years but was time to move on

Tigers are averaging over 9 yards per completion, over 60% completion pctg, one INT and people are still complaining about the passing game.

Canada is making it work despite short comings.

a) I disagree with this. he has other redeeming qualities

b) the HC is not the only recruiter on staff. it is ludicrous to think a staff can only have one recruiter and be successful. they id, evaluate and develop relationships with hundreds, if not thousands of players and their families. they are following these guys for several years before they graduate HS.

Joseph's job is not to just recruit WR. I believe he is tasked with recruiting players from New Orleans at all positions.

You are so correct , he don't recruit position players as much as New Orleans area.

So who do we blame the issues on for poor QB play?

Numbers do lie at times. The passing numbers are skewed from RAC. The swing passes to Darrell Williams last night are an example of this. You are kidding yourself if you think everything is fine with the intermediate to deep passing game. There are areas of the field this offense simply cannot attack. This will present a major problem in the upcoming game. You must make Alabama defend every blade of grass on the field. If not, they will play up in the box & take away the aspects of the passing game that have worked the last few weeks as well as stuff the run game.

I don’t see how a coach can teach a player how not to drop a pass when it hits you in the hands. I’ve seen plenty of that this year. Could we run crisper routes or come back to the QB some when he’s flushed out of the pocket the answer is yes. From my perspective my eyes tell me these WR’s are better coached than the last few years. I was at the game last night and the week before at Auburn. The fact of the matter is we have WR’s open but our QB either does not see them or DE is running for his life and does not have time to see them.

No team has a fine intermediate to long passing game without an NFL quality QB, NFL quality line and NFL quality receivers.

Canada is making it work.

It won't work in 2 weeks. Did you watch Tennessee yesterday? They tried the exact same thing with the short passing game & got smoked.

Maybe they were caused by lackadaisical practices? Which means Etling and the receivers didn't have enough reps to get the timing right.

This is indeed the key.

Have to find a way to attack 'areas', preferably by both in the air and on the ground.

And then attack the other area when they adjust.

The key in all this is attack. Find where they are weakest (i.e. where they are subtracting from to be stronger somewhere else), attack it.

We kept outflanking AU, they didn't want to subtract from the middle. OM kept overloading and over-shifting to prevent us from outflanking them on the ground... so we did it through the air and pounded the middle on the ground.

Will have to do all that, at varying times, but always attacking.

You don't attack their strengths to break their will. It's a Saban led team, you will never break their will and unit-for-unit they will be stronger. You attack their weaknesses to frustrate them, to cause them to risk what they normally don't risk out of that frustration.
