It's not necessarily about the bonding as much as it's about the dominance.
One of the puppies will establish himself as the "pack leader" over the other one, whereas you are supposed to be the only pack leader in the situation.

My wife and I are both 67. We picked up two puppies recently and it has worked out perfect. they keep each other entertained and I bring them to the dog park every day to play with other dogs. Watching them play brings peace of mind and i think it lowers my blood pressure. Getting two is the best decision I have made all year.

I got two puppies and they are 10 years old now. I am without a doubt the pack leader. I honestly couldnt' tell you which one is the leader of the two of them. They are inseparable though.
It's nice that they always have each other, and the few times in their life where they have been seperated, the other looks miserable. One of them is about to die, while the other is still as young and energetic as a 2 year old. He is going to be pretty sad when his sister goes.
But i will say that when we do somethign like walk with both of them or sit out in the front yard, they tend to stay together as opposed to staying with me. I can walk one of them, and they will never leave my side. When it's both of them, i'm constantly correcting them, when it's just one, i don't have to say anything.
They literally do everything together. One will see a squirrel and will start going after it but look back to make sure his sister is following.
As terrible as it sounds, i'm looking forward to having just one dog. Tired of paying twice as much for food and shots and what not, and i'd like to take them more places but as i mentioned, its difficult when they are together, and i hate leaving one to go do somethign with the other b/c the one that gets left cries uncontrollably while we are gone.

Maybe with certain breeds but not all. My mom got two sibling dachshunds as puppies and they follow her move. And when they’re outside they’re on opposite ends of the yard snooping around as much as they are together.
