is that really a big move up? why would leach go to nebraska? the narrative of nebraska being some great job is way out of line.
If Nebraska wants to adopt a pro-style, power-run game, which seems some fans want, Mike Leach doesn't need Nebraska and Nebraska doesn't need Mike Leach.
Between the two programs, in general, Nebraska is a move up.
- Nebraska is estimated to receive in excess of $40 million this year from the B1G as a full-fledged member.
- Fan support is there every year. Nebraska typically ranks top-10 nationally in attendance.
- Facilities are top-notch. Indoor field is just a decade old and two outdoor fields allow for both turf and grass. There is a beautiful strength and conditioning center with an agility track. Locker room, player lounge and meeting rooms are massive and have undergone multiple renovations since they were designed in 2006.

totally different recruiting grounds.
in the information age, everyone plays on tv now. wasn't always the case.
Also Nebraska was an elite program when there were no sports on TV period

I heard he's bringing Bellotti back and the old crew.
That was my first thought when I heard Moos jumped to the corn. Many forget that Moos was a long time Oregon AD (pre-Chip Kelly). Bellotti assumed AD duties post-Moos only to be bumped by mega donor Pat Kilkenny.

What were all the other antics from Leach at Texas Tech?

I’m surprised Solich eventually didn’t get another Power 5 job after Nebraska canned him.

Starkville at least has trees & is in a fertile recruiting region.
People claiming WSU & Nebraska are similar jobs or Lincoln isn't that much of a step up don't have a clue.
The landscape and isolation of Pullman & Lubbock are similar, yet Leach won at both places. Pullman is in the middle of nowhere. It's one of the few ugly areas in the West. There is very little D1 football talent for hundreds of miles. It's one of the worst Power 5 jobs, maybe the worst.

Side note. Ed O'Bannon gets most of the credit for the demise of the NCAA Football video game franchise, but Sam Keller was a huge participant in the lawsuit when he wasn't busy throwing INTs or big gulp cups at coeds who steal his parking space in the Kohls parking lot

What is he supposed to say?

I would put the chance Leach comes to Lincoln at less than 5%. I can't think of any case where a coach follows an AD, not saying it hasn't happened. Nebraska will be looking for a new coach in about a month and Moos already alluded that he always keeps a list of potential coaches in his desk. Leach seems happy to operate in a place where he has full control and that would be hard to replicate in Lincoln. Long short is Leach doesn't want NU and I don't think NU necessarily wants Leach

I thought it was Scott Frost or bust for them?
I don't think Leach would fit in well there. Not saying he should be a lifer at Wash St. but I just think he should be thankful he's somewhere he's accepted. They put up with his dumb shite there, he's doing well there and they actually love his ways there.
I don't think any of that will be the same at Nebraska. He knows that and in the end, I think he'll remain at Wash st.

which is why no high caliber coach should even touch that job. when you’ve been dormant for two decades, and have the inherent issues that they do, you don’t have the right to demand wins. you should demand relevancy. Bo had them at that level if not more. so did Solich

If you ask most NU fans, yes. I think his time at Oregon and turnaround of the UCF program is enough to warrant a shot, but my question is whether Scott Frost would want the job yet. He has something brewing in Orlando and his prospects as a young coach will continue to get bigger. Reality is, if he continues on his path he will have multiple opportunities to return to Lincoln in the future.
I also think everyone assumes he is a die hard Husker. Scott spurned Nebraska coming out of high school when he committed to Stanford and he experienced how tough the fans can be his first year after transferring back to Nebraska. No doubt he loved his team and Tom Osborne, but his relationship with Nebraska has had ups and downs

The next coach, especially if it's Frost, will have a longer leash than Riley. Eichorst fired Bo because he assumed any Jerry off the street could get at least 9 wins a year at Nebraska. That's why we ended up with Mediocre Mike and most Nebraska fans have sobered up to the realization that Bo was a better coach than anyone gave him credit for. Unfortunately for Riley, he was always going to be doubted because of the way he was hired by Eichorst

before integration.
not playing devils advocate here. just sayin that nebraska not only has zero advantages, but they are actually at a disadvantage when it comes to recruiting. every team gets exposure nowadays. the right coach could come in and turn the place around. nebraska can't even win the easiest division in football right now.

Know you weren't quoting me, but I went a couple weeks ago and really liked it. Doesn't have the character or "charm" of the well-known B1G college towns (i.e. Ann Arbor, Madison), but it's easy to navigate, clean, and loaded with bars/restaurants.

Yup, most here that say there is nothing attractive there have never been.
Its ridiculously clean and you can walk down the street downtown and not get shot or mugged.

Mike Bobo is the guy Nebraska should want
Bobo has not proven himself as a head coach yet. McElwain rebuilt Colorado State from the ruins and Bobo has just kind of continued it.
Once Bobo keeps it going through year 4 with his players/recruits, and gets a couple signature wins, he'll get big time offers.
