Remember what all you libs, proggies and Republicucks downvoted me into oblivion several months ago when I told you that a dude at a conference I was at from Homeland said NoKo could fry our grid and there wasn't shite we could do about it except to fry theirs in return?
Not Alex Jones, not Michael Savage, but Home fricking Land Security told us this.
I guess the boys in Congress are hearing lies as well.
quote:
Congress was warned Thursday that North Korea is capable of attacking the U.S. today with a nuclear EMP bomb that could indefinitely shut down the electric power grid and kill 90 percent of "all Americans" within a year. At a House hearing, experts said that North Korea could easily employ the "doomsday scenario" to turn parts of the U.S. to ashes. In calling on the Pentagon and President Trump to move quickly to protect the grid, the experts testified that an explosion of a high-altitude nuclear bomb delivered by a missile or satellite "could be to shut down the U.S. electric power grid for an indefinite period, leading to the death within a year of up to 90 percent of all Americans."
quote:
"With the development of small nuclear arsenals and long-range missiles by new, radical U.S. adversaries, beginning with North Korea, the threat of a nuclear EMP attack against the U.S. becomes one of the few ways that such a country could inflict devastating damage to the United States. It is critical, therefore, that the U.S. national leadership address the EMP threat as a critical and existential issue, and give a high priority to assuring the leadership is engaged and the necessary steps are taken to proomeland Security subcommittee.

Damn, baw. You’re about as far right as I’ve seen on this board

The power grid going down would be catastrophic.
90% of the population ?
That seems a bit high

lets start with a simple fact.
there are 3 grids protected by ac/dc interconnects.
one emp cannot take out all 3.
they are so large that an emp can damage one but not take it out.

What the hell
people lived without electricity for thousands of years

I read that it would take 7 years to get one of our grids back online if it went out. 90%? doubtful but it would be total chaos.

Second fact: multiple black start units throughout the grid. Using those to supply Aux to other power plants to get the grid back up would not take days much less years. This is retarded.

You’re gonna have to explain to me how shutting down the power grid would kill 90% of Americans.
Especially to us baws in Alabama
Who can live off the land for 2 years
But most importantly, could have power up-and-running in 3 days

The 90% number is indeed horse shite.

Is that like the "Pinch" Don Cheadle used in Oceans Eleven?

I did some rough math on this one.
90% checks out guys.
Jk, I hate math.

If the Power plants melt down maybe it’s 100%

Well they probably mean the densely populated areas. My FIL for years has told us we have a two hour window to make it to his farm when it all goes down. I've laughed it off as a joke. I'm starting to reconsider.

Thine's threads are far more believable that this.

Power grid?
I have a hard time believing 90% of us are pussies. I would believe 75%.
