Use your crystal ball... who's on the pitch when the Qatar qualifications begin?

I imagine the only obvious 1 would be Pulisic
but who do the soccer experts see as players who should be the next wave and be ready in time for 2022?

5 years from now? Just look at our U17/20/23 teams.

A lot of good young talent that hopefully develops.
I hope to see Tyler Adams, Weston McKinnie, Christian Pulisic, Kellyn Acosta, DeAndre Yedlin, Ethan Horvath, Josh Sargent, Andrew Carleton, Tim Weah, Lagos Kunga, guys like that.
ETA: Matt Miazga and John Brooks should be our central defense pairing.
Something like this
GK: Horvath
RB: Yedlin
CB: Miazga
CB: Brooks
LB: Hopefully we find someone here
DM: Adams
CM: McKinnie
ACM: Pulisic
Winger: Lots of options, but none stand out
Forward: Wood/Altidore
Forward: Sargent

I'd throw Jordan Morris in there as well. We need to find some Keepers though. It scares me to think we will go into qualifiers in 2 years with a 35 y/o Guzan.

Ethan Horvath. That's not even debatable.

What's the word on Cameron Carter-vickers?

...all arguably better right now than the group that went to T&T. Goalkeepers aren't going to be a problem.
We've got to do better at LB, because I don't know if Some frick is going to make it to Qatar.

the only names from this current call up i want to see associated with the next WC Qualifier are Pulisic, Wood & Yedlin...maybe acosta (but i doubt it).

We come to FIFA's rescue and host 2022, meaning we don't need to qualify. Problem solved

:kige:
also, frick mexico and canada. i don't want to co-host.

Is it possible that this helps our 2026 bid since FIFA will make less money in 2018 without us?

The next coach needs to have a rule that if you can play in Europe but don't take the opportunity then no national team.
So no Jordan Morris. Stop rewarding players for being lazy and content and playing in a shite league. Send a message

I'd rather older guys play somewhere than sit on the bench in Europe. I don't know if JoMo had a chance to actually play at Werder Bremen, but getting minutes in MLS is better than wasting away in Europe.
The problem was MLS getting these prime American players back like Michael Bradley who could've still played in the big leagues.
MLS is getting better in terms of talent development, but major changes still would be helpful.
Not to be a complete homer, but doing what Atlanta wants to do — buy good young South American designated players and flip them for profit to the big leagues while building an impressive youth setup here — instead of making sure the boys are back in town is much better for American soccer.

Guys who I would like to see again: Yedlin, Villafana, Cameron, Bradley, Nagbe as a backup, Pulisic, Arriola, Acosta, Wood, Jozy, maybe Garza, Brooks, Roldan, Rowe, Lletget, Morris as a sub, Dwyer, amd Johannson.
Guys who need to retire or stop being called up: Omar Gonzalez, Beasley, Ream, Zusi, Bedoya, Dax, Wondolowski, Orozco, Chandler, Fabian since we don't have any "important games" for a few years, you fricking cocksucker, Zardes, Beckerman, and probably Dempsey.

Those Americans overseas are actually having to compete for playing time like Bob said last night.

Kevin McCauley of SBNation was talking about GKs. He brought up a valid point. How did we give Rimando a bunch of caps over the last few years instead of guys who actually had/have a future with USMNT. Super frustrating.
