He has to go. You have players on the team with zero imagination, effort who aren't deserving of a spot on the roster. No way Bradley should be on the team. Gonzalez was an absolute train wreck. You could make up a roster from MLS players that would be better than that shite show tonight. The feel was crap, but both teams had to play on it. Should have been much worse with that PK that was missed on Gonzalez.

Why are we mandating wholesale changes and then dictating who should be on the pitch for the new manager?
Posted on 10/11/17 at 12:01 am to lsuson
Who should be in his place?
People say he should be replaced but never offer a replacement.

Actually it starts at the bottom
The whole American system has always been fricked up due to pay to play

I agree but hard for this to change until there is a clear football association with promotion/relegation

what are y'all referencing with "pay to play"?

Our youth system is very expensive and prices a lot of kids out. Soccer is a game of skill. Kids need to train constantly and play often but parents can't afford it.
The MLS, USL, NASL clubs need to foot the bill for youth development.

USSF needs to foot the damn bill
20 years ago my parents were still paying $2500+ a year for me to play travel.

Are you saying that parents are having to pay for everything their kids do in the academy, or just like rec/premier/classic type shite (I don't know if those classifications are still a thing, it's just what I grew up with in GA)
*ETA*
just read SCH's post...yeah my parents (mom) must've paid a small fortune for my brother and I to play. Between gas, tournament fees, park fees, indoor fees etc etc I can't imagine what it cost for two of us to play competitive youth soccer.

Think about how South America is able to develop talent. They ain't plucking 17 year old Neymar's off the street if that's what you thought.
And then us.
Capiche?

I’m still pissed we played Costa Rica in New Jersey in what was supposed to be a home game.

To even get a look at a MLS youth set up
you need to live in that area and play on a travel team and get scouted
the rest of the country is fricked, just wasting money on travel praying their child gets scouted at tournament with Euro clubs there. Even then you can't go until 18 which puts you behind the 8 ball. You can go to Europe at 16 if you have a direct relative with an EU passport.

Yes.
Soccer is expensive here in the United States. The rest of the world, the kids make a tape ball or something and get out there and play.
Here? They have to join a club/association, pay club fees/dues, buy uniforms, buy boots, buy a size 3 ball (for the youngies,) play on a nice pitch with real goals, get coaching (what it is from mostly Dads...I did it, too) and what have you. Back in the 2000s, one rec. season (fall or spring) for my sons at Lafreniere was $85.
When they moved past the u-8, there was no more rec. and the price jumped to $385 (to START) for developmental league and travel. Of course EVERYTHING has a cost of insurance, too.
If you're not into this, there IS rec. ball at the playgrounds, here in Jefferson Parish, it's all of about six weeks concurrent with basketball and track before baseball gets going. But this is almost useless for learning and improving as a player.
Until kids are playing pick-up on a regular basis as part of their lives, and until there are places/academies that cost little to nothing, this will be the state of US Soccer. It will not happen until you can get players "sold" through academies to give them financial support.

Why is it someone elses responsibility to pay for you to play a game?

Bc soccer everywhere else the money filters down from transfer fees and the FAs into youth teams
In America the USSF does it backwards charging insane fees for leagues to operate which then gets put on parents.
3000 to play a game that all you need is a pair of boots, shin guards and a ball is absurd.
Pay to play is a joke to even ask that question

No one says it is - but if you want to actually develop better talent, it needs to be. There's a big difference between whose responsibility it is and what would be better for our development.
There needs to be incentive to develop that talent. There isn't.

Did not know this.
So the youth football is essentially subsidized in Europe by the FA?
