good friend of mine did the AT in 2016
started on April 5, reached summit on Sept 29
2189 miles
he said one of the coolest parts was hiking through Virginia and encountering a live Civil War re-enactment along the trail.

I'm sure I will at some point in my life, but I'm still working and have kids in the house. Don't have that much time at this point. Looking at a 3-10 day timeframe. Gotta keep the job.
