Per Kendall Rogers; Teams are going to be seeded 1-16
I think this is huge news due to the fact that it'll create a better matchup and not a "regional" matchup for the Supers.

Stories Summer Login Top Seeding Changes Coming To Tourney NEWS Kendall Rogers - October 6, 2017 mouths
For years, college baseball coaches and fans alike have asked the same question about how the NCAA tournament field is assembled. “If softball can seed the top teams in the tournament 1-16, why can’t baseball?”. That’s the question that has been on everyone’s mind for at least the past decade. It was guaranteed to come up at every State of Baseball press conference in Omaha, and it has always been a topic of discussion at the American Baseball Coaches Association Convention as well. That question no longer needs to be asked, as the NCAA baseball postseason format will include seeding the Top 16 teams and regional hosts in the field of 64 as opposed to just the Top 8 teams that we’re accustomed to, a measure that was approved this past week by the Division I Baseball Committee and subsequently by the NCAA Championship Oversight Committee. “This is a big deal for our sport. We have to continue making the tournament better and by going 1-16 with the top seeds, it makes our tournament more equal to all areas,” Sidwell said. “The committee felt strongly that this was something we should do. There were times when there were particular restrictions on travel, mileage and things like that, but we wanted to grow the game and make the tourney better. “So, now we’re at 1-16, and I think we get more of a true field,” he continued. “We will have true matchups in super regionals for the teams in the Top 16. My biggest thing is looking at our great sport and find ways that we can grow the game and make everything better, whether it’s pace of play or simply tweaking some things in regards to the postseason.” The best news? It’ll start in 2018 and the format will call for 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, and so on in the super regional round. Should one of those seeds get upset in the regional round, the winner of the regional would replace them as that seed and there would not be a reseeding process, a potential future change that many coaches are still in favor of. “This is a great step forward for our sport and long overdue,” TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle said. “College baseball has grown to the point that regionalization of the NCAA tournament should be an afterthought to putting the best possible tournament structure together.”

So no more sending Southeastern or insert the nearest team to a regional site instead it will be a true national field of sixteen? am I reading that right?

they just wont put houston regional with college station regional just because they are geographically close

This means you wont have TCU v. A&M or Texas every year because they are close and there would likely not be a repeat of LSU v. Tulane.

Oh Ok. thanks for clarifying Rouge.

Curious the way they put about 2,3 and 4 seeds "Replacing" the national host seed for super regional purposes.
So a 4 seed that wins the 8 seeded regional would host a super over a 2 seed who wins the 9 seeded regional?

To which they stated it, that sounds to be correct but quite questioning on why they would do it like that.

Doesn’t sound right. I’d be shocked if that’s what they came up with. Letting a regional 4 seed host over a top 16 seed b/c they beat a top 8 seed doesn’t sound right. That would also hurt the revenue from a super regional. Why would you let a team like Nichols if it came out of a regional instead of a team like LSU.

I just wish they would expand replay.

In the full article did it say that this is what they would do? BC in the quoted area that's not what it says.
If the #5 overall seed loses, then the winner of that regional would assume that #5 seed position. To me, that means there is no reseeding...it doesn't mean that the new "#5 seed" would host the super regional.

I could be reading into this wrong, but I think this was more in regards to them not re-seeding after the regional round. So the team that beat the #8 seed and the team that beat the #9 seed would still be matched up in the super, but the process for determining who hosted wouldn't be changed.
I wouldn't mind seeing a re-seed going into the Supers - don't seed 1-16 until after the regionals are completed.

This is great.
Now for once, maybe we'll play somebody other than Rice in the Regionals/SRs.

Reseeding after regionals, then again after SRs is what I would advocate.

No, unless I'm reading it wrong the higher seed would always host the super regional. So a 2 seed from a lower "regional" would host the 4 seed from a higher "regional".
The change is more about seeding for the start of the tournament.

That's naturally what I would think, but they just worded it really porrly

They did. Glad to see it finally happen.

Great to see this happen. This format makes a lot more sense than arbitrarily assigning 9-16 "seeds" based on geography.
