I've had 3 and not one dug or chewed much. Just lucky I guess because my mother had several and they were hell and she took all of them through a lot of obedience classes. Did everything she asked but would definitely chew.
O{ post a pic of the dog. I might be able to help.

My 9 year old lab in a house dog. Never chewed on any furniture or clothing just bones. Hes not fixed and has a large kennel he sleeps in in the kitchen.
I hate when people get a dog and dont wanna take the time to teach them right and wrong. They are like a child. Would you just ask someone to take your kid because he misbehaves?

I found your problem. Kennel him and let him out with supervision. You'll be amazed how well a dog will act when you treat them like a dog.

then train him you incompetent frick. the dog is 100x smarter than you ever will be.
FYI, I have two labs that are 2 years old and I had a chewing problem for about 2 weeks and I trained them like any fricking dog owner would and they don't chew on anything now.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Put the fricking dog in a crate. Trust me he won't give a frick. He's a dog, not a person. I guarantee you, no matter how long he sits in that crate, when you let him out he's happy to see you.

I got it for a pet! I don't duck hunt
Yeah, well, the dog doesn't know that. His instinct is to retrieve game. That's what he wants to do in life. So you should train him to retrieve. Doesn't matter if you duck hunt or not. Retrieving tennis balls in the yard will please him. You need to stimulate him. He's bored as frick and that's why he chews shite up. Run him until he is literally too tired to run anymore. He will stop chewing shite.

Here is some insight for you.
Next time, try a rock if you want a pet.

Got a red fox lab from a guy who experienced the same problem. Had a pool, went to Lowes and bought 500.00 dollars worth of new cushions for his patio furniture. Dog chewed every bit of it. Told him I would take it off his hands when he was tired of the chewing. Brought him home, chewed the top part of some cheap leather boots I had. Whipped his arse with the boot, problem solved. I give him rawhide daily, and exercise.

Way to stick it out.
Labs calm down around 1.5-2 years in my experience. If you expected to get a puppy and be able to ignore it and it wouldn't destroy shite, I got news for ya baw.

Well hello you judgmental motherfricker. You don't know the OP I assume. As someone earlier said, until you've come home to an entire sofa, 3 pairs of shoes, and a kitchen island chewed up in a pile of shreds, you really can't fathom how an animal would do some of the things a lab does. At least he's trying to find the dog a home, and recognizes someone else can help the dog.

I bet you are one of those folks that say "my kid will never ______." The guy came here looking to give a dog away because he can't deal with it anymore. Give him a little credit or stfu from your high horse.
I bet you shoot a crossbow.

Thanks for the help! I wasn't looking to get smoked by these assholes! I bought my boy a lab cause that's what he wanted against my better judgement! I thought he would settle down on chewing all my shut up but it's gotten worse!
I knew the dog would be better with someone that would work his arse but I don't have time or know how. Lesson learned pets or pets and don't use work dogs for pets.
to rest of the pricks that cast judgement on my parenting

This. I have a 7 month GR and he is a bull in a china shop if he doesn't get an hour of some type of running. Get one of those plastic arms that you can chuck a tennis ball with. It is a game changer. 30 min. to an hour playing fetch and he is a totally different dog. Young labs/retrievers need to exert energy every day.

Kinda hard for them to hunt with their neon flatbills and Jason Aldean bedazzled britches.
