What percentage of the stadium do you think are alumni?

I'm just wondering about the collective attitude of the fan base.

Do you think there are different buying habits between alumni and non-alumni? Do you think there is a different attitude toward the team?

No but the common O fan is a facebook mom or usually some middle aged to elderly and fairly dim witted individual. Think everyone else with half a brain is at least a little aware.

I saw a stat on this at the pre-game LSU alumni party. It's around 15% Different buying habits? alumni typically would spend more money on all things LSU than non-alumni. Also, alumni will invest more with TAF. But Also alumni are usually the ones with the loudest voice of opposition if the program goes into a complete shite show mode i.e. currently. The alumni had the loudest voice opposing O. The alums didn't want O with the exception of a handful. The alumni will always have the most consistent attitude towards the program but sometimes that can be perceived as negative by the pumpers.

Alumni also are more likely to support the entire university, and not be apathetic or outright hostile to the academic mission.

absolutely Jim. That was exactly what I was referencing. Alumns will support the academic side vs little to 0 support from the the side walk alums. The only thing I was kinda shocked and sad to see just how weak the LSU Endowment is at the LSU foundation. As a result, I contribute yearly to the foundation. It's not much but I hope to see more alums contribute to it.

Not enough. Most alumni I knew were completely against hiring 0. Cannot say the same for the sidewalk fans I know.

As for differences, I think sidewalk fans tend to just blindly follow LSU football no matter what even in its current state. Alumni are more likely to be displeased with its current state.

This. For the most part our sidewalk alums are idiots and don't know jack shite about football. Call me a snob...I don't give a shite but it is what it is.

no, they're clearly both spending money if they're both buying the same season tickets

No. Why would they? It's a football team not the science department.

You would think so Ed. and LSU has a big alumni number with around 230,000 now. But Louisiana is such a ratchet arse state many of the alumni have to move out of state after graduation so the % of T.S. that are alums is relatively small. Other schools have similar issues i.e. Alabama. Finding an Alabama alum is like finding Waldo. Auburn has a high % of Jordan Hare that are alums A&M as well.

I'd almost argue the opposite.

make the argument. Go ahead and try but no side walk alum gives a rat's arse about the other side of campus. And alums will invest more of their discretionary spending on the athletic side. You obviously don't know much about my Alma Mater.

over two thirds of the current TAF executive committee are LSU alums and the same goes for the Board of directors.

No? You want to make and argument against my point. I'm all ears. The idiots that defending this degenerate of a head coach are the South of I-10 baws that never stepped foot in Allen Hall or anywhere else as a student at LSU.

Did I ask for one smartass. I'm just injecting some straight up truth and logic. And if you take issue with it continue to gulp that cool-aid in Music City supporting shitty mainstream country music.

Sheek, same here. As an LSU alum, I love that place and everything that it did for me with regard to both education and life lessons. LSU on my resume helped me get my first really good job opportunity...... oddly enough.... my future boss picked my resume out of several 100 others because he was a huge Tommy Casanova fan. Company was HQ’d in Cincinnati and Casanova played for the Bengals. Even for me in the science field, LSU Football was a door opener!

As a result, I like to contribute as much as I can afford every year
to the academic side of LSU. However, this year I just feel a little different. Something about seeing Alleva and O has changed my inner feelings about contributing to the university even on the academic side. Regrettably, I suspect I am not the only one who feels this way.

I think O and Alleva are going to hurt the university much more than F King and his cronies realize.

Look at Bama, since Saban they have been getting academic contributions at a much higher rate than ever before.

Man that is such an awesome story. LSU has a bigger reach than I thought initially. I live here in Austin and we have big alumni group here. It is not as big as Houston's but it's a solid group.

You are not the only one. Same here. King has been a terrible LSU president. I still don't like this idea of consolidating the head man for LSU-Baton Rouge as the head man for the entire system. The LSU system is pretty big as it relates to the Louisiana population and I think the new consolidated role as led to the LSU president to lose focus and perspective of the mothership, LSU-Baton Rouge. The academic side is slipping and actually worse than what the alumni might think. The last three U.S News rankings reflect that. And with King allowing such a reckless hire to be pushed through along with the terrible contact clauses it automatically makes me question his judgement on strategic decisions. King has flopped big time with the O hire combined with the decline on the academic side proves to me he is not a fit for the LSU President role. The LSU BOS now seems to be corrupted once again as well. They had a good run and anyone that knows Louisiana politics knew it was a matter of time before Louisiana politics found it's way back on the LSU campus and it's athletic department.

LSU use to be ahead of Bama on the academic side. Now Bama is kicking our arse. Proves your point.

I'm an Alum and agree with this.

Wanted Herman all the way.

Wanted Fleck to be interviewed. (Huge upside...Young Nick Saban type)

O is a great DL Coach and recruiter. NOT an SEC Head Coach. Doesn't possess the intangibles.

LSU just "Urinating in the Wind" as long as he's HC. Will be a steady decline. Things will have to get worse before they get better. (And yall are fixin to see what "Worse" looks like. )

15-20%. Most SEC school stadiums are filled with what we call sidewalk alums. Not sure what we call parents that are fans and are paying for their kids to go to LSU.

Without the SA, the athletic departments would fall short on revenue. Most alumni I know are tight and do not give back to LSU. I know some, my wife included, that went to LSU on scholarship and has no other ties to LSU except for me. She is a Bama fan and always will be. Simply economic reasons to go to LSU.
