Going there next weekend for four full days.
Will be staying at Teton Mountain resort.
Things to do, restaurants?

Snake River has a cool spot with good beers and good food. Thai Me Up has ok thai food but it is Melvin's brewpub so it has fantastic beers.

As for things to do I would recommend Tetons National Park and Yellowstone National Park. You may just have to do driving tours of them. We got almost two feet of snow in the mtns here last night, not sure if they got the same storm or not. You are butting up against mud season there so outdoor activities may be limited. Should still be able to fly fish if nothing else. Fly fishing and park touring can cover four days easily.

Yellowstone is massive and takes two days to drive both sides. One side is enough. Wildlife is abundant. I encountered pronghorns feeding in a meadow on the first drive through Teton. I saw wolves feeding on a kill at the base of a valley in Yellowstone. Park Rangers were filming the action from the roadside, probably half mile away. Keep your eyes peeled driving.

The Tetons are absolutely awesome and shadow the airport as you approach. Jackson Hole is one of my favorite towns, it's still rustic with eateries, saloons and shops.

Try the elk and bison steaks at the Gun Barrel.

Is Mormon Row that spot with the barns in front of the Tetons?

Probably one of the most iconic photos of western USA.

Eat at snake river grill for an upscale experience. They have an awesome sushi place too called King Sushi.

Both are pretty tiny and you may need a reservation. Million dollar cowboy bar has decent bands and is in the town square.

Go hiking and travel to Yellowstone for a day if you have time.

Thanks everyone!

Is the fall foliage still on the trees or will we be too late next weekend?

Make sure you have breakfast at Nora's in Wilson, go to Persephone in Jackson and eat at Trios. Burgers at The Bird are good. There are great hikes-Taggert, Lupine and some like Jenny Lake. Not sure if you can still take a Snake River trip. You may hear the elk off Moose-Wilson Road.

That gun barrel restaurant has a great elk plate.
There's a breakfast place you've gotta try to. Blanking on the name right now.

ETA: THE BUNNERY

Did I post a trip thread? If I did, read it. One of the best hiking NPs in the world.

Main thing is, SOAK it in. Even if you make the decision to drive to Yellowstone, just enjoy every second of it. That landscape is what America is all about.

Yeah the hiking/fly fishing/horseback riding/camping would be my interest. Sounds like August like you mentioned would be best time for that.

Melvin’s for beer and food.

The foliage is gone up here in Bozeman. I assume Jackson is the same.

Gotta go eat a meal at the Million Dollar Cowboy, food is pretty good but the setting inside the place is off the chain

To avoid crowds, September/October but you could get a significant snowstorm in October.

I enjoyed backpacking in mid July. Lots of green AND still lots of snow left up top...in fact, the day after we finished our backpack the high was 42 and it snowed above 10,000 ft.

I personally don't like August and September because it looks so damn dry. Not as pretty IMO.

Going back next year

the Grand Tetons are awesome for wildlife, hiking, and overall sightseeing.

whitewater rafting the snake river is awesome but you may be too late for that...but still maybe a float trip could be cool.

You can drive to Yellowstone from Jackson but I'd get an early start so you can see as much as possible. The grand canyon and the geysers are great.

several good restaurants in Jackson, we just used yelp/trip advisor and we were pleased w/ our choices.

enjoy!

Jackson Hole is the best ski resort in North America. Period

So the best time to go to Jackson is between December and March
