I think it's a crock of shite.

OK. So why did some owners tell Trump they felt they needed to do something but couldn't and then Trump went out there and took the bullets for them?
There is clearly more to this story than meets the eye based on this latest Trump interview. I like to hear about every potential reason.

quote:Yes from 5 and 6 protesters in weeks 1 and 2 across all 32 teams, to over 200 in week 3 after his comments, and only 27 teams (Thursday game was prior to comments; 3 teams didn't come out for anthem).
1) Owners "hire" Trump to put an end to this kneeling bull shite.
2) Trump formulates a plan of action and gets to work
3) End result: Players AND owners are kneeling.
So next time a person who was outraged by this says, "why are we focusing on such a small percentage of the US population" just remember that 0.3% of NFL players and 0.0000017% who were kneeling or sitting during the national anthem caused millions to be outraged.

So now you are all about conspiracy theories. What a kook you are.

Of course they knew there would be blowback. This way everyone is pissed at Trump instead of the owners for firing players over protests.
I thought about this angle prior, as well as getting the CTE crap off the minds of Progs for a bit.
But the more I thought about it, the less it made sense when I always went back to the "mind of a Prog".

well its possible that the owners voiced their concerns to Trump and thought he could help, but then Trump did what he does best and frick it up even more

Nah. This is about the NFL refusing to grant Trump a team franchise back in the day.

Sure looks like Trump solved the problem, not screwed it up. The owners now have plenty of evidence to fire such players and claim conduct detrimental to the organization based on fan blowback.
It is a short term loss for long term gain. Just look at all the backtracking by the teams and media already.

So now you are all about conspiracy theories.
Regardless, the fact that you think not believing a story without corroborating evidence falls under "conspiracy theories" is almost more concerning than your tendency to believe a bunch of conspiracy theories.

Wait a minute, you coconuts have spent a week gloating about how millions will be dropping the NFL and never coming back.

You should probably re-read the OP and figure what I said, what Trump said and what I was guessing. It appears your ability to read is not very good.

Yeah, if the owners cared that much about it and couldn't wait for the next CBA, they simply go to the NFLPA and say "Suspensions and fines for anthem kneeling in exchange for no more marijuana testing. Any objections?"
Problem solved.
Problem solved.

Well yes. If the protests continue that is exactly what will happen. If this was a one week ordeal and all players start standing for the anthem, the fans will likely come back. If it drags out, the more likely more and more fans won't ever come back.
It isn't an either or situation. There is going to be a lot of gray depending on decisions made moving forward.

it was an issue that was largely dead until Trump decided to interject himself into it
your entire theory makes no sense

Of those 9 teams, not a single one had a player who was protesting during the first two weeks of the season. So why would say Bob Kraft be "afraid" of the owners since he didn't have a single player who protested? Why would they be afraid anyways since some have already articulated that they would prefer that the National Anthem wasn't used as a protest?

“The NFL cannot disrespect our country. They cannot disrespect our flag or our national anthem, and they can’t have people sitting down or kneeling down during our national anthem,” he said.
I hate it when he says idiotic stuff like this. They are private entity and don't have any obligation to be respectful of the flag, anthem, etc. I hope he's implying that "they can't do this and expect to it to turn out well", but he's so terrible with expressing what he really means, who knows (see "Muslim ban")?
