Is there any evidence of this? Because I'm pretty sure this in completely wrong.

The rich would benefit from a new preferential rate for business income — while high-income workers could pay tax at rates as high as 35%, business owners would have tax on their profits capped at 25%.
From what I read, this would apply to people who claim business income as personal income, basically moms selling crafts out of their garage. Seems a good thing to me for the middle class.
No one making millions on a real business is actually marking their business profit as personal income.

And the estate tax would be abolished altogether.
This is such a fricking stupid tax for the GOP to champion. All their major donors are already using living trusts to get around this. The only people that get screwed are people who are too dumb or short sighted to use the existing loopholes. But the GOP paints a big target on their back to entice democrats.

maybe he is rightly in fear of the movement's imminent popularity

Totally disagree. Little Johnny and Little Mary should not have to hire lawyers and tax consultants today just to save the farm because their dad died yesterday.

flat tax of 17% with a $25,000 deduction for single $50,000 for joint filing.NO OTHER DEDUCTIONS.
a married couple making $100,000 would pay 17% of the remaining $50,000, for an effective rate of 8.5%
a married couple making $70,000 would pay 17% of the remaining $20,000, for an effective rate of 4.86%
a married couple making $200,000 would pay 17% of the remaining $150,000, for an effective rate of 12.8%
income is income, doesn't matter how it is made it is taxed the same

On a actual serious note about this tax plan.
Isn't one of the main goals to simplify the tax code, which is one if the reasons they are proposing fewer brackets? Maybe I'm alone in this, but given all of the complexities of the tax code, the brackets themsleves are pretty simple so going from 7 to 3 only makes a simple thing a little bit simpler.

But what does Trad Zcholtsky think of the plan?

one rare bit of agreement btwn myself & IowaGolfer is on the fact that the real complexity in our tax code is driven by the myriad of shite you have to account for to determine your taxable income
once you have navigated all that, the number of brackets don't contribute shite to the overall complexity

Looks like Kershaw is going the way of Prior/Lincecum after all
Even though Cershaw has gone 44-8 with an ERA of 1.77 since his thread, I am confident the guru's prediction is going to he proven accurate, just like all of his false flag arguments have been.

quote:Yeah. That's exactly how I feel. Once I know the final figure, all it takes is a few seconds to look at a tax table, which already provides the taxes owed up until the final bracket. Then I just take a couple more seconds to calculate the final amount in that bracket and added it to the rent and viola. I would still have to do that with 3 brackets, or even 2. Besides, the software already does it and there a myriad of websites that do it too.

So is this just meant to make it seem like it's making it simpler to say they made it simpler, like typical political deception, or is there another practical reason altogether for it?

Haha that is shockingly accurate amigo!
