So explain how I can hit a golf ball through somebody's house and not be liable?
The action is neither negligent, nor intentional. Golf has been deemed to be inexact enough for errant shots to not be from one's negligence.

Would I not be liable for throwing a rock through someone's window as well?

This. And the property owner has assumed an understanding that by buying a home adjacent to a course, they have a risk of damages from errant shots.

Never in my right mind would I buy a house on a course in a landing area.
