An NFL safety is any player given a contract by the NFL.
Let's say all owners adopted Jerry Jones's "kneel and get fired" stance. They let's say 90% of the NFL's players quit. The game would go on and the new players signed from college would now be NFL players and they would be watched. It's not like you'd be replacing the players with elderly women. To the naked eye, they'd appear identical.
Don't make it a talent argument because college games get great ratings and the worst pro team would destroy a college team.

With my job, we can't even put stickers on our cars, signs in our yards, or talk politics on social media. Some of us do anyway, but if caught you have to deal with the consequences. Does this policy chap my arse some? Yes, but I like my job so I'm willing to play ball. It should be the same for the players.
Why? You think every other company in the country should be required to operate their business the same as your company operates theirs?

Except that isn't the NFL's policy.
Do you think we should force private employers to enact speech codes for their workers?

To me there is a hierarchy:
-Government censorship of an individual's opinion- BOO, everyone thinks this is bad.
-Business's censorship of an individual's political opinion outside of work- BOO, this is bad. Censorship is not even the right word, but "firing or other retaliation because of" is too wordy.
-Business's censorship of a high profile employee's political opinion outside of work- Like a CEO or someone else frequently in the public eye. Hmm, I can kinda sorta understand this but if often seems to break against conservatives more than liberals.
-Business's censorship of an employee's political opinion during work- Most people would be OK with this.
-Business's censorship of a high profile employee's political opinion during work expressed through in a very divisive manner (like kneeling during the anthem)-seems like a no brainer.
The big countervailing force is how valuable that employee is. They might be justified in firing an employee, but may choose not to because they score 3 TD's a game (or is the only person who understands the accounting system).

If you were generating 100 million a year for the company do you think it would be different?

No, to each company their own. However, if such an issue adversely affects your business/product with the public, the owners should not be afraid to enact such a policy if they desire without fear of being branded a racist.

Their CBA says nah.
I bet if this thing does end up hurting the league and the owners are willing to let players start smoking the Devil's Lettuce, they can get mandatory standing for the anthem added, though, so keep up that boycott if it really matters that much to you.

Why doesn't your company fire everyone and hire people with only GEDs?

Also, since you seem so versed in supply and demand and economics, surely you realize that the players need the owners a lot more than vice versa. I PROMISE you if the NFL said "no more kneeling or you're fired", there'd be no more kneeling. That's a fact. You think it's coincidence that no one on the Cowboys has knelt? Most of these players read at an 8th grade level and couldn't do anything else to make $500,000 a year. They will do what they're ordered to do, just like most employees.
Players, like the rest of us, need that paycheck more than the CEO.

Yep. I don't think the fast food workers opinion about social or political issues has any more weight than that of athletes.
