Is it group over country though?

In that situation, I think so. Because staying in for the National Anthem does not put you or anyone else in front of criticism.

We, as football fans, know Villanueva's story. This now is going to possibly tear a team apart in some way. Tomlin was trying to prevent that, I feel.

I get both guys perspective on this, but at times the group is greater than the individual.

Makes sense.

I get what Tomlin was trying to do, but I don't really have a problem with Villanueva. I don't know if he talked to teammates about it or anything either.

Also, maybe being an Army Ranger's top priority is group, but that doesn't mean it's an auto-transfer to everything in his life is group first. In football, maybe he thinks country first.

I don't see the issue.

You dont think he already had by placing Villanueva in such a position? We are talking about a West Point grad who served multiple tours and has a bronze star.. A guy that has been very careful and respectful with his words regarding this situation. frick Tomlin for putting him in this spot. He is a leader on the team for christs sake.

His "group" is the men he served with. frick Mike Tomlin and his shitass teammates for putting him in that position. Tomlin is done in Pittsburgh.
