Home depot sells a variety pack of bulbs. I just remember it being about half the price of the one echo bulb they sell.
It sounds like a carb issue. Just try to narrow it down by elimination. Take off the filter and if it stays started then it is the filter. Check the spark plug if dirty. Make sure you have clean/new gas.

Yes Will. I just replaced the bulb on my Echo last week. Go to Home Depot.

did not see it mentioned but there is an electric fuel shutoff under the carburetor and it stops the gas from getting to the engine. if its not getting power to open or if its stuck or broken that could be your problem. gas can still seep past it a little letting the engine start again on the few drops that seep past

Gumout small engine carb cleaner. Sometimes all it takes is just a little spray of this. I’ve used it a few times when experiencing the problem you are having and it resolved. 4 dollar fix.

Try changing the plug. Probably not it since only 2 years old but its cheap and easy to do. I think I've had a mower once with a bad plug that would start but not stay running.

Hondas like Honda spark plugs.
I've had a four wheeler and a generator do that. All of a sudden wouldn't start or wouldn't stay running.
Was told to buy a Honda spark plug. Fixed me right up.

On the Honda Troy-Bilt unit there is a fuel shut off valve on the right side if you face the mower. Look down your fuel line you will see it. It is white and designed to shut off fuel during long storage times. That could cause your problem.

Arnold parts carries bulb kits that are universal for hand held units. They are less than $5 for the pack. For the guy needed a handheld bulb that is an option.

Where would this be located on this particular mower?

The carburetor bowl is filling really slow. Partially clogged valve in my opinion. Easy fix though.

I had this problem recently. Would start and go dead. The fuse holder had completely melted down and the fuse in it. There was just a tiny amount of metal wire that would connect, but when mower started, it would create enough vibration to separate the wires.
That fuse I believe connects power to the starter solenoid, which also connects power to the fuel solenoid.
Check your fuse holder if it has one. Also could try bypassing your fuel solenoid. That would tell you a lot if it cranks. Also try spraying starter fluid into carburetor as soon as it cranks. That will help you eliminate some possibilities.

Not familiar with that engine. Does it have a fuel bowl under the carb? If it has a bowl look to see how it is held in place. Some have a hex head bolt screwed into the center of the bowl. Unscrew that bolt and look to see if it has a small hole in the side of the bolt. If it does, and if that hole is clogged, it will do exactly what you said. Use a small wire or blow compressed air through that hole to remove clog. Reinstall and try starting.

Where would a man find the fuse holder on this particular mower?

It does not have one.
He probably was talking about a rider.
It is a pretty simple engine.
Yes, the carb has a small bowl for someone who asked about it.
I am thinking the carbs dirty or fuel valve closed.
I do see a lot come in my shop and guys open the valve and it works fine. The Briggs at that price point do not have a fuel shut off valve which is why people overlook it.
