CC's Coffee on Canal Street closes 6 months after its opens

This was back in July, now I hear they have laid off a number of people. What's going on?

Reasoning was that it was on the wrong side of the street.
People had to cross Canal on the way downtown.

This is somewhat old news but that location and the drive thru (which is only allowed by conditional approval from the council) was a bad idea from the start. They tried to build a suburban model store on the wrong side of the street. Not sure if that side of the street is ready for a coffee shop.
To survive as a coffee shop at that located they needed to get a ton of foot traffic from the new hospitals. That should have been their goal when opening, not focusing on drive up traffic going downtown.

CC's on Jefferson Hwy in Harahan also closed after only being open for a very short time.
